Of the three matches so far this was the least likely for me that we looked like we’d get a result. We were lucky a couple of times that they didn’t score 3.
Agreed. Similar at the other end as well. In both previous games we could, maybe should, have walked with with 2 to 3 additional goals to our name. Yesterday, I was kind of surprised we got the goal we did and didnt feel like we had much threat outside that.
Hes probably talking about they clearing one off the line and then bobby against the post.
Very crudely, let’s say you have a ruler. The increments are only in cm. You measure something. It looks just slightly above 9cm.
But then you put in a tolerance rule, and say that if it is somewhere in between the marks, then the default value you should take is the higher number.
This would mean that you will overcompensate on occasions, but your aim is to never take anything away and sell the measurement short.
Can probably make the above analogy much bettter.
If that’s the way he saw it then he’s allowed to say it, just like each and every 1 of us are allowed to say otherwise if we saw it differently or not.
This is very frustrating to hear, however if he actually believes that we are in worse shit than I feared.
I find it fascinating that in terms of non-shot actions we were better than City was against Newcastle.
I’m surprised, we didn’t have a shot on goal for what seemed the entire match till we scored!
Hence our shot-based xG being pretty much the same as United’s? I did feel like we were doing many things right, we just didn’t actually have anyone in or around the box to actually shoot. Lots of silly little giveaways, and rather odd positioning.
Food for thought…
Maybe Salah is missing Mane and the space he provided for him. And Salah needs time to adjust his game knowing he is solely the focal point.
Maybe Trent needs to go permanently into midfield. And get a more defensive minded RB to replace him. Trent has no defensive awareness whatsoever and costs us goals against… Also in midfield Trent will still give assists and actually score goals. Which is what we need from that area.
Maybe we could of signed Jude Bellingham this summer if we paid what they wanted. But i think hierarchy said no because we spent alot on Darwin and Diaz… So will wait till next summer to buy when the likes of Firmino OX and Keita come off the books.( i believe all 3 expire?)… Then we see a revamped Midfield.
Just a thought.
That would mean we need at least two, possibly three players. Blowing near £100M on Bellingham won’t do
There is something called a measurement error inherent in every measurement. If you measure the difference between 2 points as being 5cm and you have a measurement error of 1cm, then your measurement is most accurately reported as being between 4 and 6.
During its first couple of years VAR ignored the concept of measurement error. If it could identify the attacker’s line as being ahead of the defender’s then it was judged offside regardless of how small that difference was. It has now accepted there is a measurement error of 5cm. So, lets say we measure an attacker as being 3cm closer to goal than the defender, what that actually means is he we have an accepted range of values for where the attacker was from 8cm offside to 2 cm onside. (3-5 through to 3+5). So, unless the attacker is measured as being further ahead of the defender by more than the measurement error of 5cm, it wont be considered offside because we cannot confidently say that he was.
Tried the extra pass when actually at least on three occasions in the first half a shot would have done.
Firmino, Salah and I think Diaz could have all done it but took another touch or passed forward.
I can see why they were so bad against Brighton and Brentford it was still there, we just did nothing to break it. Sad thing is I can see Soton beating them Saturday.
If the technology is not definitive then should we still use it?
Yes and no, I do see where you’re going with this but also think it’s harsh on Diaz…he’s proven to be a real focal point for us up top in the little time he’s had to adjust to our game. It’s only natural we’d miss Mane given his qualities and how long he spent here,
I don’t think you’ll see the best Liverpool until Nunez/Jota are back, then that front 3/4 will cause all sorts of issues to the point where we won’t even need to be discussing our defence/midfield problems as much as we have.
Ok, so take a ruler, now slap yourself on the palm of the hand with the flat side, then rap yourself on the knuckles with the thin side. Notice that you can ‘tolerate’ the former more than the latter.
That’s the tolerance thingy, and I’m off to collect my Nobel prize.
Hate to say it, I was one of those who advocated strongly for that tolerance level in VAR offside decisions. Careful what you wish for, I guess…
They may rely on continued growth and smart signings. The hope is that of the array of younger midfielders we have in the squad (and out on loan), one or two become regulars, and the club continues to focus largely on smart signings, with a smattering of the big money moves to grow the squad - so Jude (big money) and a couple of players that are not as high profile could work.
I asked you if you thought it was offside?
Yes or no?
We all know the outcome of the VAR check, and have read the determination of what tolerance means.
But when you saw the replay, when you saw the match did you believe he was offside?
I was hearing Tony Evans opinion on the game. He said Robbie and Luis don’t have an understanding with each other yet, compared to Robbo and Sadio, those two were almost telepathic.
Klopp needs to help the young players and elder players have a better understanding of each other on the pitch.
With regards to Klopp saying that we should have won, i think he just said that to boost morale of the players in public, but behind closed doors, he is probably is annoyed with them.
