Post match: Man Utd v Liverpool (EPL 3/5/26 3.30pm)

When I heard Isak was out, I figured our chances of winning had slipped considerably. A line led by Cody Gakpo is a line that’s heading off a cliff.

But the issues that have plagued this team all year killed us again at OT. And I don’t think anyone should be surprised by that. There’s no reason to expect a different result at this point.

Slot said something during his prematch press conference about how he is looking forward to the end of the season. Quite a revealing statement to make with four matches left, including one against your biggest rival. If the head coach is waiting for the season to end, what does that say to the players?

No one expected @sbym to open the match thread either, and look what happened.

Luis Enrique, but I think he is staying at PSG for the next few years. The only other option is Xabi Alonso. He is available right now.

Yep, and he featured in 16 of those 18 losses - and we now have to mourn the legend that did more than any player I can remember in recent times.

The standards that have collapsed are simply that we are not winning any more. That culture has come to its end. But, there will be a new Liverpool team that become successful again, because that’s a cycle that gets repeated

I just worry they will stick with Slot…Millie, lallana and Torres would be a great combo…but again …I’m grasping at straws…whoever it is..he has to have the mindset of LFC…take no prisoners…fight for everything, fitness a must…fight and play as a team…where this person is I know not…I say he but it could be a she…not a lot of female managers available…

The only way he would leave PSG and look for pastures new is if they were beaten by Bayern in the second leg of the semis.

Even without CL football we can’t prepare for a match.
Rio, on the left, our best player by a massive margin.

That was atrocious both teams were atrocious. At least Manure looked like they had analysed and prepared for it so deserved to win.

Slot has to go and I don’t mean on holiday he takes far to many anyway considering where we are.

Rio isn’t our best player. He’s a young player with massive potential. Period..

I understand the frustrations. It’s been a miserable season.

But this result was never going to change anything. Not even a win would’ve changed anything substantive…

We look likely to make CL. That’s been the objective for a long time now…

And it’s all about the summer…

The best thing that I can say about this match, is that we came away without getting ‘Tonked’… Grateful for that at least

Rio was our best player tonight after he switched to the left!

What’s wrong with you?

He wasn’t. Hopefully he continues to learn and grow…

They’re fucking scum. I’d have banned them from Anfield years ago but our spineless club were more interested putting out joint statements about tragedy chanting when it was a one-way problem.

TBFcould he do worse that slot, methinks not!

Torben Piechnik (on the back of the unexpected Euros, but didn’t adapt to the pace over here), Istvan Kozma (Souness was familiar to him from when managing in Scotland), and the big money signing Paul Stewart, who was bought to get goals from a deeper position.

Just goes to show that years later, when a fuller picture emerges, you can understand the troubles of Paul Stewart.

Back to the game, for me, it’s the late game management period when Slot let’s the game drift (usually by keeping gassed players on the pitch as he’s happy with the current score, only to then concede and switch to the kitchen sink).

Yeah Macca looks like he’s physically missing something. Like Lance Armstrong without his EPO or dracula who hasn’t fed in months. WTF is wrong with him? Strong sell this summer.

We need to think very seriously about our new Manager. Slot is a coach of the team, Klopp was a Manager of the team, game crowd, supporters everywhere. I remember him running on the pitch giving a massive hug to Ali then fist pumping before running off. He made the crowd part of the team. Unfortunately Slot doesn’t really relate to anyone, even the players seem distant.
