Post match: Man Utd v Liverpool (FAC 17/3/24 3.30pm)

That’s unlucky…

Completely agree with this.

The longer the game went on, you could see us getting sucker punched. In the initial 90 minutes and extra time. We just always wanted that extra touch/pass and it cost us.

ITV’s coverage, both in the Rugby and Football annoys me, mainly because of Pougatch. He offers no insight, just the general rhetoric. I hate the way he looks at the camera after he asks a question, almost for gratification on putting a sentence together. Throw in Sam Matterface, who - especially on the Radio - sounds drunk and Lee ‘contradict myself’ Dixon into the mix and you have all the ingredients for giving up life.

Unfortunately, I can’t blame them for the result but can at least take my frustration out on them.

One good thing about the league game is we play the same day an hour before on the Thursday before the Sunday.

That is their best result for YEARS.

We’ve had a dozen such nights at least in the same period.

Plus they’re all ugly.

God, I hope we smash them in the league. Never wanted a win more now.

That will be a good leveller. Think the game on Thursday made a huge difference.

Yep.

I’m actually nervous thinking about it…haha

You’ve got it spot on there. VVD the worst culprit for slowing everything down.

I wanted a win because we have to win it.

In fact I’d take a league win over this any day if that’s a choice.

And @TheSweetSilverSong will be at Anfield when we play them again next.

I went there twice to the Sparta thread, to get Mo, but alas! - it was not enough…

So apparently, according to Klopp:

Diaz felt his groin
Nunez felt his hamstring, but hopes it’s not bad
Gakpo with a possible twisted ankle

I think we are being abit harsh with lads who didn’t play well today.

Jurgen Klopp via @BBCMOTD:

Jurgen Klopp says Luis Diaz “felt his groin”, Darwin Nunez felt his hamstring although it is “hopefully not bad” and adds that he thinks Cody Gakpo has “twisted his ankle”

:see_no_evil: Bloody hell! Not more injuries!:ok_woman:

I am hoping they are all well in 2 weeks.

Today was bad in so many ways. The forwards’ finishing was horrible bar for Salah and Jota.

Diaz is feisty and speedy, but his finishing lacks finesse. Nunez is similar but he lacks consistency. Salah floated in and about the game but still scored one and still scares the shit out of them. The moment Salah’s gone, they gained confidence to tear down the right side with Gomez not being helped by the people in front of him.

As for our starting midfield, they battled hard and did well bar for Szoboszlai being a bit too careless at times.

For the defence, Robbo disappointed the most. Being the natural full-back there, his passes and crosses were largely off either in strength or curve. His set-pieces were disappointing as well.

As for the subs, they made the game worse. Elliott has tenacity but lacks the body strength and agility to be a proper CM. He had a net zero contribution by scoring 1 and assisting the opponent in 1.

Bradley did well after a shaky start, assisted a nice one for Elliott. Tsimikas is just average but held up well.

As for Cody Gakpo, he is probably the worse of them all. The 5 on 2 sums up his decision-making. The lack of tenacity and fight is so galling that even Jamie Carragher is calling him out.

Klopp and his coaches didn’t do well as well. He failed to notice that the midfield required more than 1 changes early enough, his choice of substitution for forwards was proven to be wrong.

I think the issue is you left him in the Sparta thread for too long last week.
