Post match: Man Utd v Liverpool (FAC 17/3/24 3.30pm)

He is always has been videos of him at the bridge.

If I had had to chose one game we had to lose between now and the end of the season, it would have been that one. On one hand, it isn’t great to fight 120 minutes only to bow out, especially against the red mancs. But on the other hand, you can’t win everything, right?

So, it’s time to focus on what is left for us this season, the EL and of course the PL title. Two years ago, we fell at the last hurdle because everything was too much. This time around, we’ll only have the EL to serve as a distraction from the PL games. I can live with that to be honest.

The most important thing for us now is to avoid too many new injuries, and to recoup our players who are still out for the time being. Fingers crossed that we’ll be at full strength very soon!

He’s shagged Natalie Sawyer. That’s all I care about. I fucking despise him.

Just feel bad for Jurgen tonight, having to go and shake hands with that fucking clueless bald cunt.

I’m loathe to criticise these players after what they’ve done this season but fuck me, why do we have to wait until we play these at that shithole to turn in such an inept, arrogant performance? There was a time in that 2nd half when they’d thrown the towel in. They didn’t want to be there. No effort to close us down, tackle anybody…they’d gone. And we still couldn’t stick the 3rd in because we were too busy trying to score the perfect fucking goal.
I’ve never said this before but every one of our fans in that ground should have their ticket money refunded.

And another thing, all the usual tragedy chanting by those fucking retards went on without a word said. Our spineless club would come out tonight and say they wont get any tickets at Anfield next season but as usual they’ll say fuck all.

Nunez and Diaz should get some credit today because they provided some energy but lacked accuracy or good decision making. Not their best day. Mo was Mo…sometimes needs a few attempts to hit the perfect shot…he scored despite being match rusty. Elliot was industrious but wasteful but still tried to score (and did). All tried to press…

Gakpo came on and was invisible. He didn’t press, didn’t tackle, didn’t track back and didn’t take his chances He looked like a man lacking inspiration. Maybe he is finding it difficult to understand the passion that is expected from him in a Liverpool shirt…or maybe there is a problem with the culture and player group. Whatever it is he is not putting in much effort. Defenders just ghost pass him. I agree with some posters that Danns would have offered more despite his lack of big game experience. Bobby Clark was also a miss today…

It wasn’t our best day overall and singling out one player is unfair. The team looked like they were under orders to conserve energy. Cody though was replacing our best striker….it gets noticed more.

I don’t think that Jürgen and his coaching staff got it right today. They gave Utd the inspiration they needed when the Subs were made.
Putting it into perspective,it was just a bad day that stands out against a lot of excellent performances.

Hope we can get over it quickly and the players get their heads in the right place…

Once again I read my thoughts in one of your posts.

Not that I don’t want an unprecedented quadruble, or that I don’t want to win the FA cup, or that I don’t want to beat UTD, or that I think it’s ok to botch this quarterfinal…

But I think that given our injuries this season, and our amount of games (somewhere I saw that at some point after the international break we would play a game every 3 days for a couple of weeks, or something like that), that it’s quite likely that something would have to give, it would be very unlikely we would go all the way in all three fronts.
And if I had to choose what gives room to anything else, it would be this: Premiere League is definitely the priority and we are in it with a shout for sure.
The Europa League is one trophy missing from Klopp’s cabinet, and it’s another European Trophy, can’t put it after the FA cup.

So I hope that we can look back at the end of the season and feel that this loss has helped us focus, and played its part in winning the League, or the Europa league, or ideally, both.

Gakpo is the new Divock Origi. Got all the attributes to be a top striker but lacks aggression.

I think @Notasuperfan has a petition you can sign

Well I really hope that’s true, because if he scores the kind of iconic goals that the Divock scored, we’re in for some special times ahead.

Just finished watching. That was careless. We easily could have added a third in normal time, but we strolled around. Arguably it was arrogance, as we were better, and we knew it. But football has a way of biting that attitude right on the arse, and Man Utd got the win with their added endeavour.

Ok, I can see a silver lining. Gives some rest for a huge push for the Prem. And it might also be a timely lesson to remind us that you can’t just turn up and expect anything.

I wanted to win, and it stings, but I’m trying to be philosophical about it.

A game on Thursday v all week to prepare.
Our third priority v their whole season is on this.

There’s excuses, if we want to go there, but that would be hollow, as we really should have won that in normal time, but we strolled around without a care in the world, forgetting the urgency of actually putting the ball in the back of the net and winning the match.

It’s a maddening performance, especially the second half where we look ready to just take the game away from them. I thought it was one of those spells where had we got the third on sixty, we go on and get the fourth and fifth.

But more than anything else I thought they all looked really tired. It’s been a tough run and this might have been a game too far.

Presumably the only reason we lost was the refereeing.

Trying to look at it glass half full. If we weren’t in this cup and that would’ve been a league game against the blue bastards we likely wouldn’t have left with 3 points

At least Divock Origi comes up clutch when needed…Gakpo? Pfft…

Yup.

Need our team fully ready, I half joked that I don’t really care about who we met this round just so we could push Everton to at least back til late April .

If we had lost to Leicester or Coventry or even Chelsea I don’t think I’d have been even that bothered.

At half time I predicted, only half jokingly, that the final result would 1-5. And it should have been.

As @Mascot said, if we had got the third before the hour mark the 4th and 5th would have followed almost inevitably as this weak-minded Utd. team would’ve given up. As it was we gave them reasons to believe.

It wasn’t the best day for our forward line. Hopefully the ‘rest’ will give some of players time to recover and recharge their batteries. Of course, the problem is that most them will be jetting off all over the place.

Not sure with those injuries mentioned.

I wonder if this is again Klopp basically thinking I no longer give a crap, yup all those strikers will be jetting off quite long distances yup they are all injured.

Shame he didn’t pretend Maca and VVd had one either, wouldn’t surprise me if they are show up for Brighton.

So complacent and casual. The attitude was so shit on field. If we continue with this attitude, we will lose the league to City and even Arsenal.

A result of “fuck around and find out”.

We’ve done it once so far…
