Post match: Man Utd v Liverpool (FAC 17/3/24 3.30pm)

Very disappointed with our performance and decision making. We had them on the ropes in the 2nd half but twiddled around instead of going for a 2 goal cushion. We were passing the ball all over the pitch at 2-1 when we should have gone for the 3rd goal. Diaz again worked hard but with no end result. Mo’s attempts were so predictable even though he got a close range goal. Gomez was also sloppy in his passes in the 1st half. By the time we hit extra time, tiredness took over.
Ah well as least we still have the treble to shoot for. I hope Jurgen and our team can learn something positive from this and channel it into winning the other 2 titles.

Disappointing result, but rather drop this and win the PL,just peeved we have to pick the Mancs to lose to.We had our chances but seemed disinterested at times…Anyway it is done now,we have the PL and EL to keep us amused.

I do feel if it’s a league match we don’t let it slide.

Ironically we’ve done this a few times after big wins and it was my concern in the first half.

This wasn’t a complacent performance, it was a tired one.

Criticising the players’ attitude is nonsensical to me. It was obvious they lacked fresh legs and clear thinking. Klopp said so in his press conference as well.

It still sucks but at least they tried until the end, they never gave up.

And now, an international break…Gods knows where are they all flying to…

I really don’t get the tired excuse. In the second half, it was United that looked completely shot, chasing shadows. They looked a beaten side. There were several reasons that we lost but I don’t believe tiredness was one of them. It was when we brought on “fresh legs” that we seemed to lose shape.

They were chasing shadows because they’re generally shit and we still had some juice left. The more the game wore on, the less that applied.

Top game, will be remembered in football like that Liverpool v Newcastle 4-3 game.

You live for these kind of games against your biggest rivals and yesterday it was full of their period against our period and into circles.

So close to winning and well, unfortunately for us, they managed to make it a wild game in more than one period. Can’t always be on the winning side.

Can’t wait to go again there in the league. But with Zerbi’s man to man Brighton next, we’ll have to take some lessons from yesterday how to cope better against it. Also against Atalanta.

As much as I despise them and all of their deadshit supporters, the lift they got from Old Toilet is exactly what we get from Anfield. Not getting a third in the 90mins allowed the atmosphere to lift, lifting Utd at the same time.

That kind of atmosphere is also exactly what 115 does not have.

Whilst reflecting the morning after, I am just glad I never carried on laughing at how shit they are like some of you lot have over the past few years.

Some serious introspection required by quite a few TAN posters.

I see Instagram is the gift that keeps on giving… The amount of vitriol and abuse gakpo is receiving is why i despise fans sports in general

Gakpo is not helped with Klopp always thinking that he is that tactically versatile like his other forwards and always deploys him at CF and RW…

true… but it doesn’t matter if Klopp deploys him as a goalie. There is no need for that kind of abuse. YNWA is all about hard times such as these when players are down and feeling like shit… there is no need to pile on.

After how many years at Liverpool?
How can you know Gakpo won’t possibly turn out the same way?
And I’m not suggesting here that he will, just pointing out that you are comparing one player after having played x many years at Liverpool (doing what you said in his last few years), to one that just came months ago…

My hope is that the mentioned groin/hamstring (Nunez, Diaz) was more to avoid going to international games than actual problems. Same about the much maligned subs of Salah and Nunez, it’s hopefully to justify not involving them in international games.

It happens not just this match. Even in the match against Man City, coming on as a substitute, he looks so lackadaisical in his effort.

But that’s not what I was arguing about. Just saying let him play a few seasons before you compare him to the Divock!
Quite sure Divock’s first couple of seasons were not more impressive than Gakpo’s…
Edit: Seeing the Almighty Red’s post I kind of got what you meant, you’re probably comparing them because Origi left and Gakpo came, so going sort of what if we had kept Origi and hadn’t brought Gakpo in?

Well it makes more sense, but still not a legit comparison as far as I’m concerned. Too many other factors come in, like Origi not having many years left at the same level, Gakpo can only improve, building for the future, cashing in at the right time, things like that (don’t pick them up one by one though, just meant as examples of what the management is considering when selling and buying).

yep… they all need a rest
