Post match: Man Utd v Liverpool (FAC 24/1/21 5.00pm)

Got booted for some pretty untoward stuff against another poster.

I agree with you on this, Cavani was soft in the extreme but Pawson managed the game well generally and waved away some of the most obvious diving such as Rashford’s jump into Fabinho.

As for the match it was 50/50 with periods for both of us, after it went 2-2 we were on top and then they got the free kick and that was that.

There defence looked dodgy to be fair and we made it pay unlike in previous games. Spurs do that from the back poorly so it’s something we maybe able to press.

Because you are wading into a conversation where I am asking someone to post some evidence, some facts, some actual substance to their warped agendas. The very same people who weren’t seen when we were celebrating winning. (I know you were btw. As I said you jumped into my point against others).

I used Upecamano as an example of the massive amount of possible variables to doing a transfer this window. You could do the same for Ben White (another player we have extensively scouted), the same player Brighton refused to sell to Leeds in summer.

Where have I said I’m at peace? I know 100% we need to sign a center back, however I look around and see what is happening in the UK right now… Not sure how it is in Australia but the UK is a very dark place currently, the affect COV19 is to have on our lives (and Brexit) still can’t even be quantified but it is going to be massive. So I understand that there simply might not be the money available to sign a player.

It’s a very rare exception that they don’t, probably Van Dijk and Thiago? Every other player… Both worldclass, so add that to the list of what we need in a CB no?

I’m very relaxed thanks, I’ve said before I’m at peace of not winning the league. I’ve lived through 20 years of bad times with this club, I will take 1 more year of bad for this fucking pandemic to fuck off and we go again.

Just to be pedantic, that doesn’t make me pedantic!!!

They don’t.

Well that was disappointing again, I hate having a go at young players but Rhys Williams looks out of his depth not that we many options. Every time we lost the ball they always looked dangerous.

This season is just one hard slog.

Aptly put and ‘Liverpool suffering from schrodinger refereeing’ is indeed our issue and perhaps TAN could be the starting point for it being used more widely to ultimately change the narrative around the club. We need to fight back here and FSG should be employing a PR team to look at angles and try and ensure that, at the very least, former players bang the drum.

He is the mythical legend of Guinea.

Occasionally rumored to stalk the corridors of Melwood

We were losing the ball very cheaply in awful moments all match long. Noone seemed to be covering and it exposed an inexperienced backline. (Deja vu we’ve been here before though the backline at the time was more experienced so the question is ‘is our inexperienced backline that bad?’)

It’s Kirkby. Wait a second, have we left him at Melwood

My opinions on last night. Obviously would have preferred to win but not to bothered under the circumstances. Certainly did not want extra time. Trent and Robbo were below par again. When you have problems at the back more care is needed with the attacking side of the game. I believe that when play is on your side it is o.k. to push up and wide but when it is on the other side you need to sit 10 yards deeper and 5 yards more central. If the ball is switched from one side to the other there is time to make up that 10 yards and meet the ball . Meeting it while you have momentum makes you a bigger danger to the opposing defenders. Sitting 10 yards deeper also gives you less ground to make up if the attack breaks down and that extra 10 yards would have prevented at least one of the goals yesterday.
Rhys is not good enough yet but was let down by lack of support. I am sure he will improve but how much ?
Millie 100% as usual but seems to have lost a bit pace. Gini O.K. but will be gone next season. Thiago and Jones were Fine and it was good to see Mo back among the goals. Firminho was good in patches and hopefully is on the way back
Shaqu did well during his short spell.
My MOTM the under rated Curtis Jones.
I feel had we been able to get a new CB in early in Jan things would be a lot better than they are. Sadly I think it will be a tough ask to progress in the CL and maintain a top 4 PL spot but we should be able to manage at least the latter.

Maybe he is still on a treatment table at Melwood and has been forgotten about

Sadly we have never been one of the teams to benefit most from VAR. Don´t forget VAR is only another referee and we certainly seem to have upset that breed.

Dread our backline shortly coming up against the Drooler Kane’s of this world.
The only way to deter players from diving or purposely barging into defenders to win a penalty, is to upgrade these actions to a red card if it happens inside the penalty area…
If something is not acted upon soon, these cheats are just going to carry on getting smarter and extra sinister to gain an advantage… Cheating B*****ds

Cavani bought the free kick, Liverpool defended it poorly. But Cavani duped the ref, or the ref bought it conveniently. You decide.

Rashford was offside when the ball was played for their second goal, no real mention off that, but an analysis of Rhys effort to clear it ensued. Was Rashfords position checked? If it was, and if they deemed him onside then I really cannot contemplate football at the moment.
He was offside.

But…the narrative is written over and over this season.

The posters, and I say this with all due respect, who continually deride these claims by asking how a conspiracy could be covered should really read into what is being said. There is an inherent bias at play. Its getting really obvious.

If it doesnt exist, please explain why Rashfords offside goal stood yesterday. I cannot.

Maybe controversial but I don’t think the ref was all that bad. Only dispute was Fabinhos foul resulting in the goal. Definitely Cavani knew what he was at but definitely cannot be called ‘corrupt’ or be at fault for our demise today

I watched this one in English and had to turn the sound off at this point. There is no need for it and it’s so dishonest. Rhys missed the ball, yes it’s a mistake but 15 minutes of uttering garbage is rediculous. To assassinate a young lad like that is low, very low. People actually believe this shit which makes it worst. I am sure that if i had been listening in French they would have analysed the whole build up which included us losing the ball stupidly, Thiago looking like a prick and finally Rhys fucking up. It happens get over it and that goes for TAA, Thiago and Rhys all should have done better it’s the addition of all these errors and not one specific one that gives the result.

Ref was bad he was giving very soft fouls (if fouls at all) to ManU and nothing to our lads for very similar situations. As we are at the moment that can be the difference in winning, drawing or losing (probably just winning or losing at the moment) in good form we would win anyway!

I do think in modern football there’s soft fouls everywhere we get them aswell there’s no point denying. Sometimes I think we point the finger on the ref a tad too much, just think it’s a thing I’m seeing more that the ref for games are so important but when I was younger I don’t think I could even name a ref or didn’t even care who the ref was. Just think we let United win yesterday rather than the refs decision. But yes we would batter United in good form against ref or not. Good times to come

Was he? I don’t think I saw that at all personally, several I expected he would he waved on, as I said for him the only fault was the last one.
