Post match: Man Utd v Liverpool (FAC 24/1/21 5.00pm)

I would say in our present form it’s not worth bothering the ref over soft fouls (penalties always). I don’t think anyone in their right mind would say we get what we deserve from the ref however other teams suffer as well (Wolves last year for example).I only watch LFC but some matches it’s flagrant we don’t get the same as the opposition.

Best bad ref we have had in ages.

Yeah, while I think he avoided being utterly atrocious; he did award all the 50-50 to MU.

Give you a couple of examples. First half, Pogba I think is pulling on Mo’s shirt for about three or four seconds, preventing us from developing play. This happens right in front of the ref and the assistant. Result? A throw-in.

2nd example. Liverpool player eyes on ball jumps to head it. Rashford turns away from the ball and purposefully looks at the player, invades his space causing the player to have an awkward landing, and then Rashford does a Harry Kane - he goes down feigning a head injury. Result? No yellow card for him (think back to the Burnley game with Shaq, who had eyes on ball and standing in position where ball was landing, player jumps over Shaq and yet Shaq gets a yellow).

So all those types of fouls with no yellow cards. So what happens? In the last 5 minutes, Man Utd players now have impunity to rugby tackle players on the counter safe in the knowledge that it will be only their first yellow card.

Different standards.

Anyway, do agree that he was ok and tried to let the game flow. But he missed obvious fouls and these no yellow card situations does kinda influence the rest of the game.

The guys on the Beep were going on about Luke Shaw and how a great match he played against Salah on Anfield, well Salah shut them up quickly. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I think the worst was the eye gouging by Rashford I think and he gets awarded a freekick for doing it. Mané gets yellow carded for that every time. Incomprehensible!

Haha yeah didn’t Markovic get a 4 match ban for the same…

Who was on commentary last night. (I watched in English on a stream). I mean how can you watch a match listening to that drivel. Disgusting and dispicable. I now understand why those in the UK have such a warped view of the game. Turn the sound off you numpkins!

In the Prem game last week against Man Utd, there was the incident where Slabhead pulls on Mo in the area and hangs onto him brining Mo down. The ref gives a freekick to Man Utd (and I think I lip read Salah shouting an expletive which is out of character for him).

Then to top it off, Jim Beglin (a former red) says on commentary while watching a replay of the incident, “Mo is known for going down in stages”, all while the replay is showing Slabhead pulling Mo down and hanign on to his shirt.

Going to happen if you get dragged down in stages.

Like it or loathe it Salah and Mane both have reputations for going down “too easily”.

It’s this type of disgusting drivel that makes the English (even on here) feel justified in declaring what they do.Brainwashed drivel.

The tirade against Rhys last night was over the top disgusting and completely unfair yet even on here there’s posters that regurgitate it. All i can say is get a life and make your own minds up. Don’t get Brainwashed.

England seems to have become a nasty evil place since I left (and no I don’t think it’s because I left it’s why I left (as well as meeting a nice French chick)).

Do you think/believe that Salah and Mané go down easily?

It’s an unpleasant thought, but I really believe that their faith is a big part of this. Conscious or subconscious bias against them.

Does that even get mentionned in match commentary in England?

There have definitely been times where I’ve thought “ah you’ve gone down to easy to get a pen/FK there”

A similar scenario with an opposing player and I’d be shouting at the tv and calling him a “diving cheating so and so”

So sometimes they do, other times they do get fouled and get nothing

The way Cavani conned the referee and Fabinho to win the free kick yesterday was classic Harry Kane. He’ll be trying that on Thursday.
