Post match: Man Utd v Liverpool (FAC 24/1/21 5.00pm)

@BattlingBessie we should be grateful that we have so many eminent posters on our forum that we can learn from. We have virologists, epidemiologists, economists, fantasists, financiers, educationalists, politicians, countless football tacticians of the highest order and even a resident cynic as well. I feel we are truly blessed that these people can spare the time to inform and educate us

Who needs Wikipedia when you can learn so much on here…

Really?
I personally haven’t ever seen a striker try to stay on his feet as much as Salah does. He goes through hell before going down. So much so when I watch him I sometimes think FFS just flop to the ground!
As for Mané occassionally his frustration gets the better of him and he either lashes out or tries a trick however it’s rare considering the abuse the refs allow him to take. More often than not if he goes down it’s just that he’s so fast and twisting and turning at such speed the slightest touch causes him to fall. Then again penalty calls involving Mané seem rare in comparison most strikers he just beats defenders at will.
Niether goes down easily that’s for sure. We are far from Ashley Young levels of falling over blades of grass and yes it should be comparative.

My point is more so that as dans we are all guilty of watching through rose tinted glasses and where as I don’t think Cavani was a foul I’d be screaming for it the other end

mdr … I could just as well have written that line myself.

Never mind the reputations , but I think Mané does go down very easily a lot of the time. (I just wish he’d do it more when he’s actually in the box ! )

Mo for me is exactly the opposite. He’s often seen with some great big hulk wrapped around him and unable to move but still trying to get on with it.

Sorry, @Rambler, are you referring to Bessie only or myself included? I am confused

I live my life in a permanent state of confusion. Don’t let it worry you…

My point is you English are falling into the media, commentary and twitter trash. My call is stop it.
As fans we have the right to defend our lads and in the case of Salah we definitely do and I would say we have the obligation to.
I don’t know what Cavani has to do with your insinuations about Mo or Mané. Perhaps it would help if you answered my previous question?

And he’s bound to get a pen - martin (tw)atkinson is the ref and jon “fatboy” moss is on VAR - the same pair that did us when we lost against villa!

And the reason why they have this reputation is because the anti-Liverpool media repeat it incessantly.

There’s a lot of rose tinted glasses in here! Mane goes down too easily at times. Salah less often but there have been times. So did Michael Owen, Suarez, Sturridge etc before then. We aren’t perfect.

That said, I can’t remember any Liverpool player who cheated as much as Bruno or Kane do

There’s a lot of brainwashing gone on here!

I don’t think the issue is whether they go down easily. The bone of contention is whether we get the decisions we should do.

I am absolutely fine if, in 2021, what Cavani did is a foul. If that’s the benchmark, then fair enough.

Mo Salah and Sadio Mane get ten of those a game each.

Mo in particular has to play football with players arms round his neck, and lads so close up his back it’s almost indecent assault.

All I want is consistency. Let’s just know what’s a foul and what’s not a foul. At the minute, I think Liverpool - and Mane and Salah in particular - are subject to such a degree of bad calls that I can’t believe that the issue is just a matter of poor refereeing. I’ve always avoided the more tin foil hat side of the debate, but this season has been something else. It’s been astonishing.

Surely the bigger picture here, when referees, in being conned so easily into awarding soft fouls etc, are actually the architects of the game as we know it, deteriorating into a stop / start bore fest.!!
Vast majority of the rules are the same as in the 70’s and 80’s… so why the eagerness to blow the whistle every 2mins now, compared to back then when the games could quite easily ebb and flow without every single action becoming scrutiny for stoppage.
It is an entertainments game after all… but unfortunately… Cheats do however prosper these days.!

Couldn’t believe the trouble Lazar got over that. Was playing really well in that game then got hit with that ban. Could have worked slightly better his Liverpool career given those runs of games coming up with the injuries we had then on the wing

Yeah, the super fan Draexnael :).

Don’t bother answering my posts, because I don’t bother reading yours…

You don’t read my posts, but post a reply to my post…

He didn’t that’s the point, I’m sorry he did very little wrong in my eyes, yes the Cavani free kick is an error but one I’ve seen made countless times but then equally Becker’s positioning and the duck by Thiago are as much as fault.
