In fact his presence on the pitch was enough to confuse the hell out of them as they decided to mark him out of the game in the first half leaving loads of gaps to the likes of Flo,Ekitike,Dom,Kerkez, Frimpong and the whole midfield to prosper.

What I love about Gomez is that the opposition can’t just let him have the ball, like Konate. He has a great ability to punch a ball through midfield. Some his progressive passing last night was really top class.

Touch wood we end up with a nicer draw this time round, our style suiting this competition could see us go a long way.
We’ve beaten all the big, tricky boys and the ones we lost to, probably won’t be around in the last 16.
I’ll be there next Wednesday to cheer the team on and get the win, we’ll keep our 4th spot (small chance to pinch 3rd), then keep an eye to see who finish 13/14th & 19/20th.

That ball he passed to Szoboszlai in the build-up to our third…
Nothing scintillating but a very professional display.
OM with plenty of possession but very little bite.
Still issues at times with our final ball and finishing, but for once our opponent’s first SOG wasn’t an actual goal.
Gomez was excellent, and Alisson commanding.

I love that guy, he is a proper footballer and I wish he was less brittle because we would have won a lot more games with him next to Virgil who incidentally plays a lot better with him on the pitch than with Konate.
