You lost me by making sense that 3 of our midfielders should be on that side, no way, we should always have a presence in the centre of the pitch and as for Diaz covering the centre midfielder hogwash, his positioning is all wrong if you class that as covering, he is the wrong side of the man in both respects of vertical and lateral position. Rab is right in his assessment apart from saying there are any easy balls.
We are so out of position with 2 midfielders and our left full back the wrong side of the ball.
Agree Elliot has a lot of tools to unlock the defence and he needs to play the inside channel where Trent ends up. I also think with how we are playing Trent needs to stay wide and provide overlapping runs when Mo goes inside.
thatâs exactly what he was saying. all three midfielders should not be in the same area. thatâs a tactical failure and even if they DID recover the ball they will be tripping over each other.
It was in response to redalways post where he said it made sense!!
âDiaz is covering the midfielder in the centre. The collective mass of our players is biased towards that side, which makes sense as thatâs where everyone isâ
my point would be, that weâre competing in the absolute top of the world and we are not bankrolled by an oil sheikh or a state fund. owned by a group that expects the club to operate within its means and conduct business accordingly. theyâve done us little wrong in the past decade and brought us success which we havenât had in 30+ years. including our current manager and coaching staff.
thatâs how our club will operate under this ownership. if itâs not good enough, I hear that Newcastle is undergoing a revival and looking for new fans⌠maybe a good place to show your support. Citeh has trouble filling its seats, maybe they could use the help?
ahhh, the old âgo support someone else cardâ, should in my opinion, invoke an immediate warning from a mod, regardless to the side of the debate i sit.
so should a claim that the owners arenât âbackingâ the club when a billion dollars worth of player transfers have been spent in the last decade. thatâs not wages, or stadium/training ground improvements, just transfers.
rediculous. broken transfer records for defenders, strikers, midfielders, goalkeepers and broke the wage structure to keep the most prolific scorer in last 5 years.
the problem isnt that you are wrong becuase i dont think you are, its that you are closed off to any form of debate on the matter accross thread after thread.
its a shock to some, but you can be critical of FSG in a moment, but overall appreciative of the way they have run the club.
personally, just pointing to an overall spend with no context of the clubs standing in the game or income over that period, increased value, or any of the other factors is just boring really, its not that i can be bothered argueing, its just the point is so outlandishly skewed with no context its not worth addressing to get to a point where a conversation can be had.
its not controversial in my mind to suggest that at critical points (in this case the midfield position this summer, in years gone by the centrebacks) when a more aggressive approach would have been better.
again, whatever, the horse has boltedâŚworry about it in Jan.
Have my moments of head-scratching when it comes to the owners. I donât remember the Moores, but I remember what happened with Rafa and how absolutely fucking dross we were in those 2-3 years during the end of H&G era and when FSG took over. there were some very difficult times mixed in there, even when FSG were bargain-hunting after the sale of Torres and we went through a 30-player turnover during Rodgersâ era most of which were Championship level players. Had the odd gem like Coutinho but most were sold off for a minor loss or our coaching staff couldnât get the best out of them (Luis Alberto). Many of those players just couldnât cut it at top level and theyâre floating around second-tier continental clubs now.
Once FSG got a grasp of how the PL operates, saw through Brendanâs façadeâŚthings turned around for the club. took them some time to change their moneyball algorithm (or whatever theyâre doing) and have been very good at recruitment. We all hoped Naby would be our next midfield controller wearing #8, unfortunately his body isnât cooperating and thatâs no fault of his. for the most part, our recruitment has been very good for the past 6-7 years.
Theyâve made some mistakes with their interactions with their supporters. Theyâre learning, and I think theyâve quickly figured out that LFC fans are just as rabid as Red Sox fans. But again, theyâve taken steps to try and build that relationship back. the fact that Spion gets a voice at the table is a huge step forward in their community relations. expanding the stadium twice to get more fans through the turnstiles and creating Kirkby to get the different age groups in the same facility is only going to do good.
But theyâre also businessmen who wonât like running a deficit. they see 9 midfielders on the books costing them over a million a week collectively and theyâre asking questions of the manager. probably, of the physio room and training staff as well. And thatâs okay, Iâd rather see someone at the helm with an eye on 2030 than whatâs happening at United, or Barcelona, or Everton, or Newcastle, or Chelsea, or Leicester City. The clubâs value doesnât come into consideration unless they decide to sell and I donât see that happening. the link to Redbird is just big money trying to make more money, and that wasnât exclusive to LFC but to their entire portfolio so that really doesnât come into consideration for me.
if I had to take a guess, I think that weâre on the top of the pile in terms of how clubs operate alongside Bayern.
