Firmino and Nunez doesn’t fit on the same book let alone line. He doesn’t pass either under hot or over hit, doesn’t have 1% skill set as Bobby, first touch is as good as mine - I leave it to you to decide, can’t hit 3 barn doors on most occasions and loses possession in a giffy. Only positive is his positional sense and pace which isn’t of much use as he doesn’t score enough goals for a midfielder let alone a striker.
Yes,a bad decision as he should have tipped it away.In saying that he saved us in the first half and he wasn’t the only one to get it wrong tonight. We move on to the next game and hope tonight has fully focussed everyone going forward.A draw away to newcastle on a night when we where below par isn’t a bad result, although we know it could have been better.
Strange game. We were rubbish and deserved to lose. But then we dug deep and got back in it. Then the Salah show took over and we thought we would win. But then a Kelleher mistake brought the draw, which at that stage felt like a loss. Weird one.
Far too many of them were well off their level. Too many enforced changes at the back made us look so jittery there too. Newcastle had their big players back and they were pumped up to show what they could do against the league leaders.
In the context of having injuries, and hitting the heights in two huge games just prior to this one, a draw wasn’t the worst result.
Still top of the league. Still a decent lead. But we need to get back to winning ways in the derby and keep a decent gap intact. Chelsea and Arsenal look good, and Man City finally managed to win again. Long way to go.
Darwin has never never contributed what Bobby did, like chalk and cheese, just ask Mo, Sadio or a lot of the others that played with Bobby, he was the glue that made it all work, what Slot wouldn’t do to have Bobby in that 9 position.
A few weeks ago he did it, I think against Villa, but they hit the side netting and everyone forgot. After the game someone questioned my judgement of him as a goalkeeper (which I’m fine with) then when I pointed out that error I was told it didn’t matter because they didn’t score.
Goalkeeper is an incredibly hard position and Kelleher has performed very well for two months. His shot stopping is generally excellent, despite a tendency to push it back into trouble, his 1v1/close range goalkeeping is superb. My issue has always been the overhyping of his potential, the calls for him to be the future number 1 - someone even said he’s one of the three best GKs in the world last week. He is none of those things. He’s a very capable deputy goalkeeper who has some flaws to his game. If he stays in the first team long enough then these kind of games will inevitably happen eventually.
We want to win Champions League and Premier League, or at least challenge, then our first choice players have to be the best of the best to do it - which Kelleher isn’t and never will be.

No thanks, love.
I’ll stick to my Aberlour 14, thanks.
I also think he lacks in what Ali has, size, I think Ali may have got a hand to both goals they scored before the howler, as neither were in the corner.
Alisons height helps him a lot with corners and free kicks. He is huge.
Darwin Nunez. I’m his biggest defender. I was willing him to get the winner. But fair’s fair, while he harried and chased today, he did have a bit of a stinker. But I will still back him to the hilt while he wears that red shirt, and continue to hope for the best. I won’t stick the boot in on our own.
I half wonder if we might sign Jonathan David on a Bosman in the summer, as Slot starts to shape it a bit? And one of Jota (injuries) or Darwin (inconsistency) will make way?
Totally agree we missed the big man Konate I knew we would struggle today as it was one game too far for us but some of the free kick given by the ref was bizarre anyway it will be even worse officiating with Oliver letting everto kick us with impunity on Saturday we had one day less rest than them and we only have 48 hours to recover for Everton keep fingers crossed I am wrong.
There genuinely is so much revisionism about our favourites.
There was so much moaning on here about each of them in their time, but no one seems to remember that. Firmino used to be defended on the basis that he might not score nor assist that much but he defended from the front!
No doubt in time to come Núñez will also be defended similarly while the next player to come in will be mercilessly savaged if they don’t have a good start to establish that reputation.
Thats conveniently forgotten about now. But he couldn’t have made mistake been injured 2024 calendar year hes now missed 24 games.
Only good thing ref did was blow the whistle when Newcastle was on a counter attack and 3 on 3. They might have well scored considering the day we had
I’m not convinced he should have done that since there was so much time lost over the free kick prior to that…
Sure, but your initial point was that Mane and Firmino also missed chances in their early years and that his numbers were not that far off theirs at the same points in their Liverpool careers. If we want to compare both at the same age (25), Mane scored 13 PL goals and was in the team of the year.
Score or not. i never saw Firmino or Mane as panic as Nunez today.
You could cut Nunez some slack if his numbers were improving year on year but they are not.
He is thinking that he can take more out of the clock with a goal kick.
He didn’t do a cost-benefit analysis
