For once, this was also very true and not just a traditional phrase
Salah, MotM for me (voted Salah and Trent, but Salah was the stand out imo).
Not much to say about the game other than it was very pleasing and promising. At the same time, Norwich lacked lethal attacks (although they had many good attacks), but what they had we tackled quite well indeed defensively. Many promising performances, Salah always performs, but TAA reminded me of TAA of two seasons ago. Allison safe and calm with one tremendous save. VVD not in top shape but still good, he needs more games. Tsmias promising. Keita promising. Oxlaide a bit disappointing perhaps and it was not Milners best game.
Very decent game, however it ought to be said that we did not have to do anything truly difficult to win it. Opposition played decent but still a Championship side newly promoted.
And thatās all I have, on to the Spurs vs Mansour match.
Far from his best position also. When I saw the line up I was expecting worst, thought he did well in fact considering how I view his ability in that DM role.
It is a Sunday afternoonā¦
We won our first game quite easily, 3 points on the board, all looking good on the team front at the momentā¦
We are all fans of the same clubā¦ why not everyone just take a step back and leave the arguments until another day or whenever the shit chanting happens againā¦
As adults, we all know what is right or wrongā¦ just ask yourselves thisā¦ would you encourage your young children to sing stuff like thisā¦ probably notā¦ the people that do the chanting probably know better but there you have itā¦ society is what it is.
There is banter at the games which bring so many laughs, then there is this spite and venom that darkens the whole eventā¦
Seriously guys, we are all fans wanting LFC to conquer all before them eh!
COYR
I gave MOTM to Mo, with nods to Alli and TAA. A nice all round performance. My first opportunity to really see Tsimikas playā¦looked decent. Matip looked composed.
Ok lads and ladesses. Weāve binned all the discussion about the homophobic chants. This isnāt the place to discuss it anyway, and as it has lead to personal insults being exchanged, we wonāt tolerate it anymore in here.
Please remember that we all want the best for LFC, even when our opinions may diverge on some specific matters. Cheers!
We outplayed them not only on the pitch, but also in the stands.
Our supporters were outstanding. Nice to see how Trend applauded them on hin way to a throw-in.
Did not get to watch the whole thing live, as I was a groomsman in a wedding. If only the KO was earlier (and not 12:30 ET). Cāest la vie. That said, we were taking pictures before the ceremony and I caught a bit of the game at 2-0 and 3-0 as it was playing on TV in the hotel bar (somehow managing to miss Moās goal!). From watching the highlights today, it looked like a solid performance and I was very enthused that VVD and Kostas got minutes (looked good overall even if lacking concentration at times), and was even more jazzed at trying Jota through the middle.
Well said. It was great to hear the traveling Kop celebrating once again.
A pure joy isnāt itā¦ I found it harder and harder to stay interested in football over the last 18 months or so. The lack of atmosphere and the pitiful attempts to compensate for it with fake crowd noises were taking everything away from it for me. This, added to our struggles and injury woes, was quite tough to watch.
Now, itās as if the true spirit of football has been released again. I know once again why I love football (and this club) so much.
Yeah Iāve realised your average crowd was missing, obsession over crowds at the Euros were grating especially some of the cnutish aspects but generally to hear that noise again I noticed it in one of the La Liga games as well as the Peterborough game.
Oxās performance was a weird one for me. I absolutely adore Ox so maybe Iām guilty of being a āStanā (as the kids these days say) for him. I find it difficult to believe he became a different player overnight from what we saw of him in preseason.
After that performance I would be surprised if he did not lose his spot to Henderson next Saturday., Fabinho for Milner and although KeĆÆta did not impress me much I would give him another chance.
I hardly watched any games that didnāt involve Liverpool last season. Itās just not the same without fans and VAR was a total ball-ache. Ruined so many games. I watched 4 games this weekend. Great atmospheres, especially Brentford/Arsenal and Spurs/City. I canāt remember VAR interfering at all in any game. I really like that you can now be ālevelā with the last defender again thanks to the thicker lines. I hope thereās not too much whining about decisions this season. Itās clear that the bar is going to be much higher before we see VAR overturns and thatās exactly how it should be.
