Post match: Nottingham Forest v Liverpool (EPL 22/10/22 12.30pm)

I lost count the number of occasions high and wide and in space waiting for a pass from our cm’s. Not an overly complicated skill to achieve, but we took far too many touches and the opportunity went. Self doubt or slowness in thought?

Also anyone blaming Joe for the goal can do one. He gave away a foul (after taking far too long on the ball) at the half way line.

We were slow and ponderous in possession with little imagination and forest were value for their win. Had we taken the numerous chances that came our way from set pieces it’s a different score.

Ali again is the only one to emerge with any credit. Elliott too, to a lesser extent.

Totally flustered! What can one say, they sucked today for 90+5 minutes!

Pigging bollocks. Onwards and upwards lads, 3 wins on the spin now and we’re away

Optomist

Lookout lads he`s always (on the) right

Don’t worry, given how we are going, most of our players will not be in the starting line-up for their national teams.Only Ali and VVD will be definite starters.:joy:

Did the hall of shame thread get transferred to these forums during the switch?

Leave the politics in the politics thread please. We don’t want the arguments in that thread spilling over everywhere else.

Fabinhos time could be up.
Been in decline for ayear and his legs have fallen off.
Midfield needs a complete overhaul

Fabiinho - legs have gone
Ox - injury prone
Thiago - injury prone - over 30
Keita - injury prone
Henderson - injury prone plus over 30
Jones - not good enough and injury prone

Its gonna cost some coin to sort this out.

Bellingham, Rice, Caicido all sign.

Brighton vs Liverpool in match thread next season, 1-1 at half time.

Walshy07…"That Bellingham needs benching. FFS Rice is anonymous today’

All true and add to that Ox and Keita leaving on a free next summer as I can’t see us offering an extension to Ox and Naby seem intent to leave for Bundesliga.

We should have addressed the midfield already in the summer. Ox was already a peripheral player towards
The end of last season. He should have been moved on for a nominal fee as soon as the window opened. All water under the bridge now but if we want to salvage something this season FSG will have to invest in January.

We need two midfielders in the door on January 1st. No Arthur or someone like him but two midfielders that would be starters. Spend 200M and bring in Bellingham and Barella.

I’m on holidays for the weekend, basically unplugged as I try to do on weekends. And fuck me if I didn’t check the score for the night and think

What the fuck?

So I check the highlights and it’s so vague that I cannot figure out why we just lost to Nottingham Forest. The striker we let go for peanuts, dropped us below Newcastle at over ¼ of the season gone

I don’t know if I even want to see what happened

Don’t, just move on to the next game.

Winning a hard fought Man City game aside, we’ve been fairly woeful against teams we should be dispatching with a mix of first and second team players. But somehow, a guy we sold for £7Mil in 21 just put us to sleep and then from what I saw on the highlight seems to be feeling totally vindicated.

Gini left. Workhorse, played a lot of minutes
Mane left. Workhorse, played a lot of minutes
Henderson seems to be falling apart
Fabinho is falling off a cliff
Naby can’t keep up
Thiago, like a crystal vase. Beautiful but brittle
Young talent is great but consistency… We’re getting beat by Nottingham Forest 3 days later? By

Rice is hugely overrated. He was invisible against us until…fab came on and then he had the freedom of the park.

Yeah i forgot Arthur…what a farce that was. Injury prone player of last few years gets long term injury. Classic.

I managed to catch the last 30 minutes of this in a pub yesterday. Not the best but how we didn’t manage to get the ball in the net is beyond me. Had Nunez, Jota etc been playing would they have done any better? Possibly.

At the moment we look like we did during Klopp’s first season whereby we can play a blinder one week and struggle the next when you’re expecting a routine win.

We are in transition as a team but whereas during the early Klopp era the gaps in the team were obvious now it seems to be more a case of some very good players not being quite as good any more and our younger players are good but lack experience.

Just hoping we can tie up the CL group against Ajax.

Welcome back!

This loss in a way feels more hurting each day knowing united, chelsea, arsenal and spurs all dropped points this weekend.
A ray of hope is they are all still within reach…the world cup can’t come soon enough and bring our injured players back again for a renewed push in 2023.

I don’t think many of our players will be starters at the WC but with our luck van Dijk and Núñez will pick up an injury …

Really gutted by this one.
