I completely agree with you, it is reprehensible, and it is shameful that it is tolerated.
Racism and homophobia are illegal, and there is a mechanism to hold people to account for that. I’m not so clear what the mechanism would be to hold people to account for what is routinely thrown at the people of Liverpool?
It is poverty shaming, and unpleasant as it is, I think that is still allowed, at least legally. I’m not sure what other words would be used to describe it. Prejudiced probably. Again, I think that is allowed legally.
I’m not fully on top of the law of the land, but Liverpool suffers a disproportionate amount of unpleasant shit from the wider population, but I’m not entirely sure what legal remedy exists for tackling it?
I suspect that people who might formerly have been overtly racist or homophobic are now congregating in the ranks that sing about feeding scousers. That is where their tribal ugliness is still allowed.
I thought our boys controlled the entire first half. The final ball, or final third whatever, was where we couldn’t make it count.
Second half felt a little bit all over the place but again we were getting chances. In the end a win is a win and our boys progress to the semis. 7 changes to the side is a lot and it showed as we struggled with some continuity in the final third.
I feel terribly for Ox as he even knows he’s at the end of his time here. He’s doing everything he can, but lack of playing time and injuries have taken it all away from him. Said in the match thread he has absolutely no confidence in his own game.
The beating Jota was taking in the match thread was fascinating to me. He’s a player that’s always been ice cold or white hot throughout his career and clearly he’s working himself out of the cold snap he’s been in. That said, the fascinating part (for me) is if you replaced Jota with Mane in that discussion it would be a full blown Battle Royale in here. No player deserves beatings but (we) seem to get a more defensive of some.
Speaking of….hugely disappointing to me Mane and Salah weren’t even in the squad. It’s not the end of the world, mind, but disappointing nonetheless. Neither play until Friday but couldn’t be named to the match squad, even on the bench. I don’t really care how supporters spin it for their own comfort, nothing will change my point of view on the matter. Jota himself has a WC qualifier and he was in the team. I can sort of understand Mo with his recent foot aggravation or whatever but he did play v Arsenal.
I assumed he got the ball, but agreed, on the replay it didn’t look like he got anything on it. I think it was not considered a pen because of “the magic of the cup”
Fuck what the cunts choose to chant about…atleast proves we be worth something wortb chanting about… More than i can say about the oil cunts.
For me boggles the mind when it comes to football fans and how quite a lot of them lose sense with reality when it comes tk tribalism (we have got cretin who are there as well )
Yeah it’s kind of why I come here and talk to the reasonable friends I have. Since I returned to Twitter it has plenty of good guys just don’t stop by the replies.
No doubt some hard of thinking chump has launched a petition to have it replayed
Yes I was disappointed with Cooper’s comments in the papers today saying that if the penalty shout was the other way it would have been given which is total bollocks he needs to teach that lads not to dive if he had stayed on his feet he would have had a better chance of still scoring but he went down like a sack of shit relying on the ref to give him a freebie cooper accompanied his comment by saying he had not seen the Slow mo footage Klopp should have sent him stats that we never get anything from refs nor VAR and Salah gets kicked and pulled down in the box with impunity.
When I watched the shitty game beforehand Jesus got a penalty with an identical foul as the one suffered by Jota which was waved away the Nottingham CH took his legs away without a sniff at touching the ball from behind the other problem was that our players didn’t so much as utter a murmur of protest we might have had a review by VAR.
I thought we played a good game, I know some expect us to blow teams away but I bet Leicester and Arsenal thought the same and ended up eliminated, we done a good job and meet shitty in the semi.
Yes that was the one I was talking about never touched the ball as some people are suggesting there was no way he could get at the from behind other than tripping him
Live I thought he was brought down without the defender touching the ball no matter how much the commentators told me otherwise, but if you watch this replay and watch it in real time watching the ball only without looking at the defender’s leg (where it doesn’t appear possible for him to get his leg across), you will see the ball changing trajectory with absolutely nothing other than the defenders foot (heel specifically) possibly being able to have caused that deviation:
Neither that nor the Notts calls was a penalty. Decision was correct from the ref both times
Looked for all the world like he got the ball on TV. Now I’m not that sure…
Scrubbing the vid back and forth, it does seem as though the ball takes a very slight deviation from its path at the time Worral’s heel is presumed to make contact.
At the same time he takes an awful lot of Jota at the same time.
On balance, I’m fine with that not being a pen. I can’t say for sure after looking at it for five minutes in slow motion.
One thing that’s pissed me off is the narrative about it being an astonishing tackle. Fuck right off with that. He’s as lucky as he is brilliant.
That is the one but to my eye the slow motion replay showed no contact with the ball. Does not matter but it was more of a genuine pen call than the Forest one which was a clear attempt to con the ref.
