We’ve played better and been absolutely robbed even under Slot. Our defence dealt with it. 12 shots but two on target and 1 big chance. Thats why they didn’t concede the 5 that Stoke put away in that first half. Second half 8 shots, 4 on target and 4 big chances, one taken and probably two with the hand ball.
Typical at the moment a Jekyll and Hyde performance and it’s certainly something he needs to sort and show for me to change my mind about him staying however a team can have 20 shots that end up in the stands they won’t win a game with it.
I think thats the default position. But if the winner has already qualified by virtue of its placings in its league, then it generates an extra place, (or missing club) which then generates a play off scenario, which opens up 5th placed clubs competing for it.
Agreed. That 1st half was a fucking embarrassment. The 3 in midfield were a fucking disgrace and I don’t care if MacAllister did score the winner, he’s fucking phoning it in every game and needs fucking off in the summer.
We have been a shit team for a year now, it was this time last year when we last looked like a competent football team.
I don’t care much for Slot but I almost feel sorry for him now. He manages a squad of wealthy international footballers who can barely pass the ball 5 fucking yards to each other.
Konate MOTM, solid defensively and actually tries to play a forward pass now and again. Kerkez and VVD my other picks, strange how it always seems to be defenders who are our best performers these days.
Liverpool boss Arne Slot, speaking to Sky Sports: "If you score in the last minute, there’s always an element of luck but so many times this season, we’ve experienced the opposite. A draw would have been a fairer result than a win for us.
"If we rely on one player, then things are not good but that is not the case. Someone else has to do the job. The first half was difficult because Forest played well and they have good players.
"I wanted more control over their midfield. I highlighted how well they played but we lost every ball. The only part of the game was defending inside the box. We had to defend a lot of set pieces. We stayed in the game.
"We took over the game in the second half, maybe because they played on Thursday. We scored twice and I would not have been shocked if both goals were ruled out but maybe our luck is turning.
On Ngumoha: "The first goal was because of him. A great cross on the head of Hugo Ekitike, which you would expect to be a goal. It was a good one v one which is what this game needed. He already plays a big part for a 17-year-old. It tells you how a big of talent he is.
On Wirtz: “We tried it in the warm-up and he wasn’t able to play. The good thing is there is a week to go until the next game.”
I have seen some bad matches played by LFC, but today really takes the cake. Wow.
The team could not string more than 3 passes. It seemed like 11 strangers first getting on the pitch and played together the first time. Passes were behind or too far in front. Control of the balls were so poor. Gravenberch and Jones were scarily bad. in particular. Even more surprised was that we were nowhere in winning the second ball.
I told my dad that this forum would be in an uproar with such poor play and likely would be blamed by the supporters about the break rather than more focused training. I am hoping that the break/rest will be a long term gain.
Counting our lucky star that the match was still in a deadlock after such awful 1st half of football. Although second half was “significantly” better (well, that was a really low bar when compared with the first), I still found that we were late in winning the second ball, and very surprised that Gravenberch played the full match.
A win is a win, even though it’s an ugly one. At least Slot indicated that a draw would be more of a fair result, and Mac was not happy with the performance even with the win.
And that is perfectly fine, mate. I just didnt think the bedwetting comment was fitting given our track record this season. One must be allowed to be a bit critical imo.
After all, it looked like your comment was targeting me and I don’t think I said anything extreme. I am not, never have done, one of those calling our players or manager names and etc.
