The Plymouth CB ‘fucking loves it’
Im none of those.
Gomez injury is the biggest downside to today. Really need to protect Konate over the next 5 games because Quansah looks like he’s regressed from last season.
As with similar games under Jürgen, I wouldn’t criticise anyone individually too much, since it’s not a team that has played together, and with a few out of position here and there.
Of course we are angry
Not changing the result though is it? what’s the point in getting stressed out.
Well done Plymouth. Defended really well. Keeper also made some good saves.
Gomez getting injured messed up Slot’s plan. Meant that we had to have a midfield with hardly any experience. Mabaya struggled at right back, and was rightly subbed off. Not his fault, but he should never have been on the field.
Harvey had a mare, culminating with giving a pen away. He only settled down in the final minutes when he was pushed into playing the deepest modified slot. That showed him to carry the ball before paying it. Quansah and Endo probably the only two outfield players along with Keleher that was up for it.
The players up front struggled. Only in the final 20 minutes did Jota/Diaz/Chiesa drop into midfield to give some impetus. Tsimi was under par, especially going forward.
So too many senior players sub par, along with inexperienced in midfield which meant we struggled to pass through the lines.
This game just highlights the fact that Endo should be getting 10 minutes at the end of games to relieve the playing time of Alexis/Dom/Grav. Jones not coming off the bench probably meant he wasn’t fully fit.
Some shit attitudes here, if we werent top of the league with a decent point gap, and struggled in europe wed be livid about this result, fuck me to read comments like this dont matter and slot wasnt arsed…if that was the case then slot will never achieve shankly status or understanding of what it means to be a liverpool fan.
Plymouth, credit to them, they played well and despite being shite in the league and having to endure rooney for a while, they deserve it.
That was the test
I’m not sure he underestimated this. If Gomez doesn’t go off injured, we might have been more stable. As it was, I barely saw Mabaya in the game at all.
I wonder if not bothering with Jones was more a statement of, I could risk Jones, or I could give a player I want to see something from a go, to see what they might be able to offer, hence Kone-Doherty coming on.
It’s not that we lost to the last team of the Championship that bothers me. It’s what we saw from the senior players, namely Tsimikas and Elliott. They played as if they had money on Plymouth progressing. Not that everyone else was flying but these two and Elliott in particular, sabotaged whatever chances this team had.
Slot deciding to bring Kane-Doherty from the bench (who was one of the very few bright spots), instead of Jones sums up how we approached this game, but still this was a horrible showing. Unexpectedly and disappointingly so.
Congrats to Plymouth
Same as the League Cup, you only get arsed once you get to the semis, or if you don’t have anything more important to fight for.
But we are.
Feels like it’s a lot of emotional compensation for losing the game…
Don’t understand why Gomez going off contributed to us losing the game. Our midfield and front three were terrible and hardly troubled their defence until the last few minutes.
Folks trying to enter the post-match chat and @mascot taking his sweet time to open it
But we are top of the league, we are still in Europe and we are in the league cup final. Nobody has any idea how we would have approached the game if those are different.
Work mate from devon supports plymouth as second team, liverpool first…hes over the moon and for them, at the match was sending messages at half time…said it was the joint first best result for them of all time…
Changed the intended set up of the team thats how.
