Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson, speaking to TNT Sports: "It was probably the performance of my life. The manager was telling us how hard it would be to play against PSG, how good they are with the ball and that we would have to be ready to suffer. We knew what was coming.
"We worked hard. We gave away so many chances, sometimes one v one but the biggest part of the chase is having someone make the player with the chance think a bit more.
“All the efforts the team put in makes my job easier. Then at the end Harvey [Elliott] coming in and scoring the goal, it is a great story for us. A great night.”

So here’s the evidence of the excellent 2nd half performance by the defence…
1st half PSG - 12 shots for 1.37xG (0.11 average)
2nd half PSG - 15 shots for 0.45xG (0.03 average)
They were shooting a lot but it was speculative distance efforts.
Elliott’s goal was the highest xG chance of the game.

We got battered for most of the game but still win it. They had 27 shots compared to our 2. Alisson was fantastic and made 10 saves some of them top drawer. Two subs combine to get our winner.

That sounds like a hell of a game. Sorry I missed it.
People say we were battered for 90 mins and, tbh, yes we conceded chances both halves. But I think we were much improved in the second half in terms of our overall shape. We weren’t stretched as often, and I felt surprisingly calm about the whole thing.
PSG were all talk, no trousers in the end. Elliott clinical. Nunez, you beauty. And Alisson fecking Becker, my goalkeeper, what a specimen of a man.
