Post match: Rangers v Liverpool (UCL 13/10/22 8pm)

I like Ally McCoist, him and Pat Nevin are by far the best co-commentators. We all know their loyalties but they have the ability to be neutral and explain/put across their analysis in a brief manner, although Ally has a better sense of humour. Additionally, they don’t rely on being controversial to have their contracts renewed. Rio… well in all honesty, if any team was scoring against Man U, I would be celebrating, but his reaction seemed a bit OTT almost as if he knew it was going to be replayed on TV. But hey, each to their own.

I missed the second half, fell asleep during half time because having a newborn is bloody tiring. Woke up to a lovely suprise result and enjoyed the highlights very much.

I know I wrote a post before the Arsenal game about playing Bobby behind Nunez. Whether I posted it or not, I don’t know (or want to know) as I tend to respond/post more after a few beers.

We all know Bobbyu is good at dropping deep and bringing other into the game, despite a tough season or 2. I just felt that with Nunez stretching the defensive line, with Bobby would be well suited to operating in the hole, Linking things up, I hope we look at this going forward.

Elliott, Bobby MoTM,

Seriously what’s going on with VVD this season? Jurgen needs to sort this out otherwise we’ll continue with our weak defence. We need our rock back.

This is what happens when I open a thread, AND avoid posting during the game, AND masturbate in the morning!

Mo scores the quickest hat trick in the CL and he still cant make MOTM. Well deserved Bobby.

Absolutely a fluke of a result. This is an overweight, injury-prone, old-aged team of slow overpaid footballers managed by someone who’s way past his prime.

Oh, and the fact that Continental refs get about 90% of calls right (compared to -2% of PL refs) has nothing to do with our win.

Great result after an ordinary first half, just hope it wasn’t a false start like Bournemouth turned out.Repeat the second half for the match against City and we can believe,we are on the right track again.
MO’s six minute hat trick was pretty impressive

Don’t call it a spark…

You say off the right, but he was still very close to goal. This season he has been hugging the wing, and had toiled,

Whether it’s up front or to the left, he just needs to be in the box.

Klopp said that he was pleased with the first half too but I can’t see why. Rangers took the lead and had the best chance to score again. We weren’t exactly hanging on but we weren’t convincing either.

All that changed in the second half. Whatever Klopp said in the interval made a difference. It was obvious that we clicked. Suddenly we remembered that we are much better than that dross and we annihilated them.

Loved Elliott’s overall game and Carvalho’s much improved showing in the second half. Robertson looking refreshed and playing with intensity. Nunez didn’t have the best of games but that finish for the 3rd was sublime. Salah got a hat trick in 6 minutes with Jota assisting all of them. But the star of the show was undoubtedly Roberto Firmino, the one man who has been playing to his standards this season. Two well-taken goals and a cheeky assist. Thank God he’s found his scoring touch.

I couldn’t bring myself to watch the 2nd half.:grimacing:

Well done team and all the brave Reds watching.

I think someone here suggested that it was more that Rangers couldn’t keep the intensity up for the second half?

Definitely a case of that. If we could stop conceding early we can actually beat most teams on fitness. Rangers are good enough to do well in the Scottish League but there are only really half a dozen teams that are of a professional standard. You don’t have to go too far down the league structure to find part-time players.

Both Scottish teams start at 100 miles per hour but by 60 minutes they have shot their load, i watched celtic do it on Tuesday night and ended up losing 2-0.

Oof! You might one to rephrase that one.
