Who will be joining Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle in the semi-finals?

Tottenham host Manchester United in the fourth and final quarter-final on Thursday (20:00 GMT).

The draw for the semi-finals takes place after that.

The two-legged semi-finals take place on the week commencing 6 January and 3 February, with this seasonā€™s final at Wembley on 16 March.

For what exactly? Two players pushing against one another in a jostle to gain an advantage. At no point does Quansah push or tackle the guyā€¦

Canā€™t believe how dumb these guys on paramount are!

The fringe and young/inexperienced players all showed up well, especially given a few of them were asked to play in different positions.

We controlled the majority of the game without doing much, then gave away a soft goal through a panicked clearance which hits our own player in the face, thatā€™s football for you sometimesā€¦at that point Southampton didnā€™t deserve a goal, momentum changesā€¦all the subs are made and they have a bit of a go at the end. Itā€™s the kind of game weā€™ve seen a thousand times before.

Endo and Morton must have been out on their feet playing 90 minutes and barely played this season, credit to both.

Wish weā€™d have lost as Iā€™m not in this to win trophys. As Wenger said ā€œtop 4 is a cupā€

Who needs or wants to see us go to Anfield South on a beautiful bright spring morn and lift ANOTHER trophy? Not me for sure.

Didnā€™t think it was a foul after first reply and every replay since. 2 lads were wrestling a bit and one of them decided to fall over. Play on :+1:

I donā€™t see any impediments for the Reds. For you however more appointments in store:

In Liverpool squad tonight;

Nyoni, Elliott, Kelleher, McConnell, Jaros, Ngumoha, and Nallo.

Agreed on the red card but glad he did and got away with it, it bamboozles me how people think it a legal challenge where Quansahā€™s arm is, that is a clear case of holding no different than pulling the shirt

Excellent result and performance basically our 2nd team against Southamptons 1st team.

So we controlled the game 1st half then the changes happened which were right considering the upcoming fixtures and much needed game time for some squad members.

Couldnā€™t have gone any better really. Through to the semiā€™s, most of our starting 11 for Sunday got a night off, good minutes for MacAllister, Elliott, Jota, Chiesa and Tsimikas.
Endo and Elliott the stand outs. Good to see Darwin get a goal, little female goblin on Sky making out his first touch was poor FFS.
Must admit, when they scored I saw it going to pens but we dug in and got the win, that 11 that finished the game was fucking nuts!

FT: Southampton 1-2 Liverpool

Liverpool

Liverpool boss Arne Slot, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "It wasnā€™t easy circumstances to play in because of the wind of course, but it was a very good and important win for our team. We saw a lot of players that maybe donā€™t start, we saw a lot of players that have had an impact already, so for us to have these players playing games is important.

"It doesnā€™t matter too much what your back line is if you have the ball as much as we did in the first half. Then you have control. Second half the control was not there as much so your defenders are exposed, especially if they are not defenders.

ā€œWe handled it really well and only conceded one or two chances. The second half wasnā€™t as good as the first but it was enough in the end to bring the win over the line.ā€

FT: Southampton 1-2 Liverpool

Liverpool

Liverpool manager Arne Slot, speaking to Sky Sports: ā€œWe have to defend the trophy because the club won it last season. I wasnā€™t involved in it, but the players were and of course, Jurgen [Klopp] was with his staff. As a club we want to compete for all trophies. But we are also aware of Arsenal, Newcastle, Tottenham and Manchester United. Itā€™s a tough competition for sure.ā€

The favourites all won but none of them were convincing. If Ruben Amorim wants to make an immediate impact with a trophy then he must be licking his lips tonight.

If Chiesa can get himself fit and avoid injury then weā€™ve got a player on our hands.

Yep that shot that was going in cleared off the line, showed his quality, drop of the shoulder then one touch and hit it
