I felt it was going wide to be honest.
But Elliott might have put it in.
There was one that was going wide and a second which looked like it was heading to the bottom corner.
The 2nd one which was bending in to the far corner
Yeah Iâd go further. The only things you can really finger Morton for are errors that came from unfamiliarity with RB and how to coordinate with CB, yet still did enough in that role to think him a credible back up option if needed.
A bit sloppy in the end, but lots and lots of positives about tonight.
For dragging him downâŚâŚ.but my point is VAR would have overruled I have no doubt.
I think we got away with one for once.
Anyway last time I checked we head to the semis and VAR or no VAR, red or no red, itâs done.
Chiesaâs shot blocked on the line? It was clearly going in. Would have been a nice goal.
Ah I missed that one sorry, just seen it on highlights.
Two-legged?? WowâŚ
Not sure exactly where you saw the dragging down.
Kinky.
Good first half, dropped a bit in the secovnd but given that there were plenty of changes, thought the lads did well.
Endo and Morton who have not really been rusted on starters this season, did really well considering.
Positives:
- Night off for Virgil, Alisson, Gravenberch, Diaz, Salah and Szoboszlai
- Sensible rotation for Trent, Gomez and Mac Allister
- Good performances from Morton, Elliott, Quansah and Endo
- Minutes towards full fitness for Jota and Tsimikas
- Nyoni impressed
Negatives:
- Two legged semi in January against someone the fanbase will want us to go strong against and beat.
Positive:
Two games away from a final and potentially another trophy, the first of the Slot era.
It wonât be just the fanbase. And we shouldnât be so much preoccupied with burnout and fatigue. We have a squad capable of challenging on every front. How many teams can call upon the likes of Chiesa and Kelleher (saved us again) to come from the bench? Even our more fringe players like Morton and Endo without meaningful minutes all season have shown that they can contribute.
We just need not to be hit by the injury crisis curse for once.
I think perhaps Iâm in the minority of fans here, because I want to see us win it, but without changing our approach. Have Arneâs Academy⢠be involved consistently throughout, playing those minutes, getting those games, while giving the lesser-spotted players valuable game time where they are the senior players in the team put out there, just like yesterday.
It was all the sweeter when we won it last year doing that in the final. Admittedly by then we were playing a strong team, but the best part about that for me was just using the kids in a final. I still maintain that if we did that against United in the FA Cup we wouldnât have lost that game.
Yes. How dare they. Imagine wanting a team to be successful.
The negative is our fans wanting to win a semi-final!? Has Walshy logged in to Mascotâs account?
Weird that if Endo had been stood in the box when he got the ball smashed in his face from point blank range the ref would have blown to stop play but because itâs on half way he lets play go on and they score.
Maybe the risk of concussion is just greater in the box than elsewhere on the pitch. Nice of Southampton to show concern too by taking full advantage of him being out the game.
Hope our lot have taken note.
