Looking at our 3 game blip, it comes down to not being fluid in the last 3rd, our decision making has been poor and our shooting even worse.
I also have noted that there isn’t much interchange with all 3 changing positions, Mo & Sadio seem to be on rails and very rarely move from the allotted side whereas when we play well they pop up all over the place and cause indecisions for the defenders.
Klopp and the coaches need to look at this to make us unpredictable again as we have been the dominant team in all these fixtures but the end return is what we need work on.
They seemed to have a hissy at the Palace game and it hasn’t been solved since, if they want to take some direction look at that lad who went off for Soton, he was in tears, we need that passion back in our play, it’s all a little tedious at the moment, as I’ve said bar the odd 20 minutes for the last three games we’ve played the same game.
Just seen the Walcott ‘tackle’ on Milner again. On another day Milner has his ankle broken. Straight red all day. No foul given. Bent as a dog’s back leg.
I’ve thought all season that the derby was the most corrupt game of football I’ve ever seen played in this country. Last night’s game isn’t far off.
The early goal was well taken by Ings but sloppy on our part. It immediately put us on back foot especially with the two cheap yellow cards awarded my AM.
I cant however blame poor refereeing for the loss, we had enough possession to score or at least create more clear opportunities, we literally carried AOC and Salah first half, our right hand side was invisible.
Second half we were better, but having Southampton camped in their own half we did very little to ruffle them. A fair result in all honesty and hopefully a kick up the backside. I personally would drop TAA for Milner or Neco, something is wrong with his game.
The officials did their job, like most games that don’t end up with a 3 goal LFC win, so stop the complaining and get with the program. The 2 Manc clubs need to be up there, with a sprinkle of London too…
BTW, did you guys notice that Sadio was a bit tilting to the right, as most of his shots were sliced backwards? Could be an out-of-balance issue, or something that needs alignment…
We could have had VVD and Gomez in the lineup and we would have still stunk it up last night.
How quickly the CBs can get the ball up is just a minor problem if we hold the huge majority of possession. Williams or Phillips at CB can certainly be improved on - but they are hardly the cause for our ills.
We had 17 shots and only 1 on target against Southampton. 1 shot on target. Wow! That’s utterly pathetic. That was even worse than against West Brom where we only had 2 shots on target!!! How are we expecting to win these games?
It means our midfield, fullbacks and forwards are not able to create or we aren’t able to shoot accurately.
Instead of passing sideways and back… we need those penetrative runs and incisive passes. This is when I hate Gini’s “safety first” style and would have preferred some more aggressive, risk-taking action.
Not sure why Minamino wasn’t brought on when he suddenly was performing better. Ox… well I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt since he has been out for a long time but he stunk.
Pretty awful it must be said and toothless would be kind. Urgency is also seemingly a problem at times; for the second game running we were fannying around with the ball in the dying seconds like we had all the time in the world. I mean, wtf.
Imagine utd, city or the chavs playing with no centre back and see how they would perform. I know its the club’s fault for only having 3 but i would like a bit of fairness.
Well… I’m not too upset with this match. Stuff like this happens. One goal for the opposition and they sit back and defend for the most part. And we couldn’t find a way to score.
What I am upset about is still the Fulham and West Brom games. Those lost points hurt the most.
The difference is Effort… We gave no effort and played down to the level of WB and Fulham. Relegation teams… Absolute garbage.
But at least we put in some effort against Southampton especially in 2nd half.
Flat performance and indicative of recent couple of games.
We are now in a title fight, and the nature of steam rolling teams is a lost concept. As champions we are going to be continually tested. Its the fight in the dog for ghe next ten games, not the dog in the fight.
Anyone not seeing the agenda against Liverpool now is being purposely blind. Two penalty decisions, the Walcott tackle (?) added to the lack of decision on Mane in the Newcastle match makes it undeniable. VAR is supposed to arbitrate on decisions the ref doesn’t see? It is hampering Liverpool so often that the comedy of LiVARpool is now truly redundant.
We need a boost. Strong team vs Villa, put them out of the Cup, then continue with a win against the Mancs. City are the big worry for me though.
Klopp and Hodgson cannot be compared. That idiot owl face ( sorry owls), belongs in the same basket as those twat american fart-fat-face hicks and sidekick shovel in the arse gillette
We had the option to play our dream midfield of Hendo Thiago and Gini but Klopp chose to accommodate Ox and leave two natural CB’s on the bench. To play Ox over Shaq or Jones is beyond me. Yes, Jones didn’t have the greatest game previously but Salah and Bobby not exactly on form either. Against Palace Takumi played really well with Mane and Salah on either side so not sure why Klopp didn’t allow that form to continue.
Anyways, it’s easy to sit here and type away what should have been done but the bigger issue is that we have few regular starters that need to be dropped and we need another tactic when our fullbacks are nullified or in this case, giving the ball away for a record number of times.
