Post Match Spurs (A) - EPL 22/12/2024

Look at the flick over to Kulu, he should have come across to cover him and thinks about it but stays, although he did have Porro to consider.

However, for me Virg got caught in no mans land, didn’t follow Solanke then got chipped by a great pass

Top performance, from everyone on the pitch.

With so many playing a good game, I am giving votes to only a single player, and it might be a weird take given we scored 6 goals, but I’m going with Gomez.

It’s probably recency bias, but I thought that was the best game I’ve seen from him at Liverpool. Every touch was assured, he made really good decisions when he had to think quickly with the ball at his feet, and he defended exceptionally well overall.

I might be being unfair to Szobo and Salah but I think when a player steps up in their own individual performances, it should be recognized.

It wasn’t a criticism of Gomez.

A bunch of Santas in red made our Christmas!

4 points clear with a game in hand, goals galore and a performance made of wet dreams.

Votes for Mo (2 goals and 2 assists, and simply killing it in the League), Diaz, and Szobo, but honourable mention to Gomez who was outstanding and Trent who was a joy to behold and could have easily ended up with more goal involvements.

Spurs can be so dangerous and get goals out of nothing, and we let them do their thing more than I hoped we would allow, but we did dominate and we did score amazing goals, so I would say I was only stressed for a few minutes or so in the game (at 5-3).

Let’s enjoy Christmas at the very top of everything, and let’s pick up from where we left it on Boxing day.

Great 3 points but fuck me what are we playing at?

No doubt I’ll be accused of cry-arsing but for Spurs to be still in that game with 7 minutes plus injury time left is fucking ridiculous.

Said in the pre-game thread for once I wanted to see a controlled, authoritative away performance without (a) spunking loads of chances, (b) gifting them a goal and (c) allowing them back into a match when it should have been done and dusted before half-time.

As usual we delivered all 3. It really should have been 7 or 8 before they scored their 2nd and even their 1st was a gift.

All that said some of our attacking play was sensational although we will not come across a more open team than Spurs this season. By-pass their midfield, which we did with ease, and you’re laughing.

Mo, Diaz and Szobo my MOTM, also thought Gravenberch, Joe and Robbo were very good. Nobody was poor.

Good day with Chelsea dropping points, next up the East Midlands Tories on Boxing Day, would love us to give them a good twatting.

Well, I’ve just woken up on a cold morning in Christmas week and find that Father Christmas came early this year. As usual I missed him because he always comes when I’m asleep.

There’s a word for that. Two actually.

Missed the first few minutes before our first goal. We could have EASILY had 3 goals before that one. In fact we probably should have had the one Forster passed straight to Mo.

At a point in the match when there was a very brief lull I thought about the the Simpsons’ soccer skit, and how, genuinely, there are a bunch of fans that have to watch that exact shit every week from their team, and somehow eek some sort of entertainment value out of it.

We as Liverpool fans are exceptionally lucky to have the best of all worlds.

Bit of an aside, but I thought the officials did well today. They kept the game flowing and were quick to call offsides and the like.

Spurs were never in the game.

Mo was shockingly wasteful… if he was Darwin there would have been met downs for that one… which is a frightening thing to say about someone who scored 2 and assisted 2.

I actually missed all our goals bar one :joy:

I agree that some were avoidable, but it also shouldn’t be discounted that Tottenham generally score bags each game: 23% of their games they’ve scored 1 goal, 23% they’ve scored 2 goals, 19% they’ve scored 3 goals, 19% scored 4 goals.

Looking at us, we’ve scored 2 goals in 46% of our matches. That’s what I call a team in the driver’s seat…

Thanks i couldn’t be arsed replying to him.

I’d have taken the same notice I take for any of your posts.

Inside Im distraught with that revelation I need to go cry now.

I agree.

Don’t get me wrong, he has some aspects of his game which frustrates me (but that goes for all players) like how sometimes his recovery run is a bit laboured. But, I really surprised at the lack of love for Joe Go :+1:t2:

@jaffod & @RER, ffs guys, we just won 6-3 away, truce for a day ever an option for you mates?

Spurs were never in the game. Not even at 1-2. We were all annoyed with the goals conceded.

Spurs are an odd team. They attack without any semblance of balance. They press like headless chickens. In any other match, 1-5 would mean take your top players off and just knock the ball about to kill time.
But Spurs just attack for attacking’s sake. Yes we did relax a bit after 1-5 but after a spot of sloppiness we closed the game out.
