Post Match: Spurs v Liverpool (EPL 19/12/21 4.30pm)

Most refs have been rather good, this yesterday was a joke.

You can never guess which one will be awful in a given season mind. Mind you good to see some former refs saying it’s terrible.

Nope still don’t see evidence of grand scale conspiracy/cheating (call it what you will) against us. In the City game we got lucky with some decisions, not least Milner staying on.

Maybe Tierney has an issue with Klopp as he in particular seems biased against us, but don’t think it’s systemic.

The standard of refereeing is absolute shite, and I agree with @Mascot that as we are so nice and don’t pressure refs it makes it easier to decide against us. But that’s weakness and incompetence not systemic corruption

It’s a joke. You’ve got to teach this game to kids and all these rules they’ve added on and the nonsense around offsides etc are just appalling changes that have made the game worse and not better. And none of them will ever admit to a mistake.

I’d like to see the PMGOL release a ref rating performance for each game. Could be a simple three/five star rating, traffic lights or something similarly indicative to show everyone else how well they believe the game was officiated. Because at the moment, there is zero accountability on officials and everyone on that side of the game sticks up for their own no matter what.

If we saw this morning that the PMGOL had given that officiating performance a 3/5 (fucking generous but they’re never going to give them the 1/5 it deserved) then we’d at least know that they feel there was room for improvement in the officiating of the game. I don’t expect we’d ever get detailed reasons why but at least we’d know they felt there were things that could have done better. As it is, all we can assume is the PMGOL are perfectly happy he got everything correct and knobs like Walton, who is now the de facto public voice for referees, is defending the indefensible with made up caveats.

Well, the Guardian wondered that too:

English football, especially the refereeing, is rotten from top to bottom.

Even a large portion of the Caf is saying we were hard done by.

They think it’s hilarious, mind you, but they agree we got cunted, nonetheless.

Hell must have frozen over.

Who is Pearce quoting?

If those quotes from the second article are legit…fecking hell!!!

:flushed:

Ornstein, prefaced by a, ‘The Athletic understands…’

The club really needs to develop a nasty streak if the goal is to become serial winners. It’s not enough having the talent, which is undoubtedly there, in spades. But a bit of ruthless gamesmanship is needed, definitely.

Could this have been leaked to the press…to deflect the complete debarkl of yesterday…coz they don’t want anymore finger pointing at the officials…

It’s staggering when you think that players kneel down against racism every week in grounds all over the country, while those awful ©°~†ß practice racism on a daily basis.

I’d agree with this.

We’ve been basically top of the fair play table for the last six years. We won the league and won enough points in or years to should have won the league apart from City’s equally gargantuan efforts.

If there’s a conspiracy from the refs it’s abysmal if we get less cards and more points on the reg than almost other every other team.

Do I believe that Tierney has some personal dislike of us. Yes. He couldn’t wait for an excuse to give Klopp a yellow.
The Kane incident was clear and obvious, both the first time and with VAR etc. Is that part of some larger agreement with other people based on the exchange of money? Is it fuck.

Klopp did say to Tierney, he’s the only referee he has a problem with. So there must be something to it.

I think the way Klopp said it was…
“I don’t have a problem with any other ref, only you… with you, I only have a problem”
If I had to interpret that for my English homework assignment…
I would say Jurgen is explaining that he does not have any problems (with/from) other referee’s, only him… meaning Jurgen does not have a problem with them, but Tierney has a problem with Jurgen…!
I think
Anyway, one interpretation might get him a fine… the other one might not…!

That was from 20 November.

Didn’t realise that…just looks as if it’s being used as a defective headline…

You took the words out of my mouth @jaffod.

I heard the same thing and my initial thought was no way in hell Robbo said that to him. Kane said that Robbo told him it wasn’t even a card. Not a chance in hell he actually said that to Kane. Harry Kane is an insecure, pathological liar. But suppose for one second Robbo really did say that, then he’s an idiot.

As an aside, it’s interesting to me Kane’s dirty tactics highlight film, featuring his notorious “backing in to a jumping player” technique, has been removed from YouTube last night. “Doesn’t have a reputation” they say.

He is such a Liar Liar :jeans: on :fire:
If Robbo had said that to Kane…
How on earth would Kane have translated it from thick Scottish brogue to English :0)

That’s the idea now, but they’re shit or biased or both.

I’ve kind of been resisting the biased thing but after yesterday I probably need to have a rethink. I don’t think I’ve seen such an awful one sided display. Had they had given the Ali dive thingy I might have gone full @jaffod.

Honestly disgusting refereeing display yesterday.

I wasn’t actually particularly upset about Kane not seeing red until Robbo was sent off for a far less dangerous and harmful challenge
