Post Match: Spurs v Liverpool (EPL 19/12/21 4.30pm)

exactly this… i think klopp is mo pissed than normal because the boys gave all they had considering the situation and came up short coz of ref decisions

Klopp: “Robbo is a really good boy but he lost it. You can give a red card for that. But it proves that the VAR was there, because before that we were thinking he isn’t in his office.”

A joke of a decision’ - pundits on not awarding Jota a penalty

FT: Spurs 2-2 Liverpool

Sky Sports

Jamie Carragher: "Yes, you cannot condone speaking to a referee but managers are emotional. We want managers to be honest and emotional and the decisions that go against Liverpool, it was a blatant penalty, Harry Kane should have been sent off.

"We were frustrated with VAR a year or two ago, we are OK with it at the moment but we have gone right the other way. Last season a touch on the ankle was a decision but now we are thinking what is the point of VAR with penalties? We saw that with Newcastle, it is not VAR, it is who controls it. Chris Kavanagh is VAR and that has to be a penalty.

“It might have happened 100 miles an hour but he whole point of VAR is to help the referee. This is the whole point of bringing VAR in. The clear and obvious is a real problem because the don’t want to re-referee games. VAR helps referees on big situations and that was a big one.”

Jamie Redknapp: “It is a horrendous decision, he just barges him. at least get some opinion from VAR. Look at the position of the referee, surely he can see that. How has he go the ball? It is such a bad decision. There is not a fan of football, ex-player who would say that is not a penalty. It is a joke of a decision.”…

On if Harry Kane should have been sent off: “I think we all agree it is a clear red card, I just need to ask two people, Mr Tierney and whoever was the VAR. You can give [Andrew] Robertson a red card, he knows that himself but Harry should not have been on the pitch in the second half and then tell me how the game goes. If Mr Tierney does not see it I get that. But the VAR was obviously awake because he told him to look again at Robertson.

“With the penalty he tells me he stopped on purpose because he wanted to be hit. The referee had the best position in the whole stadium.

“You don’t need a ref that helps you. You need a ref who is clear and objective. In three decisive decisions he was once right and that was with Robbo, and twice wrong. All three were against us.”…KLOPP

So it was Chris Kavanagh on VAR. Chris Kavanagh from Greater Manchester.
Another cheat with previous.
It’s all in plain view isn’t it?

‘Reputation helps a lot’ - pundits on Kane challenge

FT: Spurs 2-2 Liverpool

Sky Sports

Jamie Carragher: “I don’t understand the terminology used. VAR is talking about speed and intensity, Kane is sprinting and lunges in, that is nonsense.”

Jamie Redknapp: "That is a red card. When you go in and use that amount of force, right now how the game is, he is out of control. if Robertson’s foot is on the floor he snaps his leg. It is not intentional, he is not that type of player. Being England captain, reputation helps a lot.

imagine tackling a player from Athletico like that… the guy would have stayed on the ground for the entire half or until Kane was punished… Tierney has not got a scooby about how the game should be refereed

There’s a lesson there isn’t there.

What a frustrating match to watch, our Ds and mid-fields were penetrated so many times, that each time Spurs ran towards our goal, I held my breathe. One minute Ali saved our bacon, and the next moment had a brain fart.

Fuming at the ref’s poor judgements against us on the non-red against Kane and blatant penalty on foul against Diogo. I was not surprised that Robbo could not get away from his red card.

Perhaps it’s the way that we managed to hold on got to 1-1 at half time combined with the bullcrap officials, I was a bit relieved that we got at least a point out of this match.

Here are my picks"

  1. Jota - A threat to Spurs penalty box the entire match. Great header to equalised, should have had a penalty.
2=. Ali - A couple of brain farts, but his quality still shined through to keep us in the match (with some lucky moments too)
2=. Robbo - + side: Beautiful set up for Diogo’s header, plus his own header to put us in the lead. Negative - Somewhat to be blamed for our 1st conceded goal, and the reckless tackle that ended in the red.

(Opinion may change after 2nd viewing of the match.)
Edit: On second thought, I am too mad to watch this match again so soon.

Andy challenge was a red. Reckless.

Kane’s was a running leap with a high foot, missed the ball completely (Andy dinked it over him). Excessive force.

Tierney and VAR messed up completely. Just like with Trex and VVD. Disregarded their duty of care.

I have just watched the game and I am seething, how Harry Kane stays on I have no idea, the refereeing performance was shocking, blatant penalty and that dick Dermot Gallagher thinks Robbo should have left his foot on the ground to get his leg broken and the Kane gets sent utter bollox, reckless out of control using excessive force and late grrrrrrrrrrrr

If Kane is sent off it’s a different game and Robbo never has to do that stupid challenge.

That is what he basically said, it was something like, that with Robbo jumping it saved Kane from having a red and because he jumped he thought it was only a yellow, all the other pundits thought it was a red

What a stupid statement…
The men in Black, the Vars, and even Kane the untouchable, trying so hard to justify their decisions…sorry just admit you got it wrong…pls…( oh yeah…can they give retrospective reds)…

Kane off, we walk it… after 20 minutes in the 1st, we dominated. we would have scored a few
