I will resist commenting on our performance.

Can anyone offer an explanation as to why Van der Ven’s very late scissor tackle which injured Isaak was not a yellow card ?

This football is absolutely dreadful but it’s better than stubbornly sticking with a system that isn’t working. Not sustainable this but for now it will do.

Still required a shit load of luck to pick up a result yesterday. That last 15 was as poor as it gets.

Kerkez and Van Dijk defended well, Ekitike good again, Wirtz impressed in spells. Thought the midfield was really poor yesterday though.

Terrible game of football really.

Probably because it should’ve been a red.

What’s this mental narrative that Konate left something on Romero first? Redknapp goes at great pains asking them to replay it to show it but the moment he refers to is Romero kicking Konate…

Then Hart claims Konate left something on Romero and ‘baits’ the reaction too?

Am I blind? Konate gets up early wins the header and Romero backs into him which is why Konate goes over him.

Romero doesn’t need any bait to act like a dickhead anyway.

Just thought it weird they’re trying to shift some blame of the situation onto Konate.

I just saw a comment on the Guardian feature about the game. They pointed out that since Spurs played better with 9 players than 10, had they gone down to 8, they may have equalised, and with 7 players could have won it.

This approach being homeopathic football.

They should add that with 6 players or less, they would have steamrolled us by 10 goals.

On a slightly - only slightly - more serious note, Spurs should petition the PL for a waiver…to field 9 or less plaqyers as they see fit, for every match from now onwards.
That’s a surefire formula for improving their results.

Anyhow the reaction to yesterday is OTT frankly. He won’t be there if he doesn’t deliver this season, the bemoaning of 10 minutes after they went down to 10 men and yet ignoring to be honest the second half literally up to defensive fuck up that led to the corner being effectively all us. Not sure why Alisson is static on his line on that.

Anyhow they were only down to 9 men for 6 minutes so how can that be judged in anyway?

Video clip show Chiesa went on the field to check on Isak after the goal and down injured, also said something to Wirtz, probably congrats on his assist.

I thought if a team went down to 7 players the match is abandoned?

I think it’s when it goes to fewer than 7. I actually wonder whether the refs were turning a blind eye to things after a while yesterday, because that was a distinct possibility.

And crucially at the very end of the game they’re losing where they can essentially go all out attack because giving up a goal on the counter would mean nothing. All to be gained, nothing to lose.

Vicario was on the half way line.

I think the plausible explanation is that since Isak scored the foul wasn’t relevant to the game. In the same fashion that Pickford’s challenge on Van Dijk wasn’t considered a card because Van Dijk was was off side… never mind the ACL.

I disagree heartily with that as an explanation but see games consistently ref’d that way especially as regards the award of penalties.

I am pretty sure they changed that, dangerous play is dangerous play.

He’s a good egg, that bloke.

They may well have issued statements to that effect, and I 100% agree, but I haven’t seen anything like a consistent change in how those situations are actually refereed

I don’t watch a ton of games outside of ours though so that could possibly give me a slanted view of such standards.

Oh, I am not saying they aren’t making it up a they go along. And it’s obvious he should have been booked for this. In fact there is less of an excuse here. Isak’s goal counts, he fouls Isak while it’s in play regardless of where the ball goes.

He should have had a yellow regardless.
