Well apart from 15 1st half minutes I thought we played really well.
Thought it was gonna be anther blank after Manes miss and other chances wasted.
It was offside but disappointed to concede the Son goal - but what was more annoying was we got caught out again exactly the same way 5 minutes later- luckily Son fucked it and shot it straight at keeper.
We then sorted ourselves out and looked really good.
Thought Bobby, Hendo and Milner were great.
Still have no idea why we are suffering Origi. Minamino clearly isnt rated.
I dont understand how thats handball - if anything its our free kick for the shirt tug on Bobby or the Dier handball. Bobby only hand balls it as Dier is westling with him.
I know we have VAR but refs are not using their own brain or common sense.
Ive also lost count the amount of fouls on Salah around his neck that go unnoticed.
I can’t reasonably claim that Firmino handled the ball as a direct result of Dier’s grappling.
As Dier’s cuddling didn’t stop Bobby winning the ball and springing the attack, Atkinson correctly waves play on and allows play the develop (that’s what it looks like to me).
When the goal is scored, there is a debate how far you go back looking for an infringement, but Bobby’s handball was certainly an infringement.
So I think it’s fair to disallow the goal.
The issue for me then is how you restart the game. I don’t see how you can give a free kick to Spurs, given Dier’s grappling and shirt pulling, and I don’t see how you can give a free kick to Liverpool as the goal was disallowed for a handball. And we don’t do contested drop balls anymore.
What a great confidence boost for the team and supporters. Thought it was going to be another one of those nights when Sadlo missed that early chance and Son knocked it in the other end. Jon Moss the the rescue. ( I never thought I’d say that in my lifetime) If Bobby plays well then the whole team seems to click and that’s exactly what happened last night. His link up play was brilliant. Special mention to TAA who has struggled since coming back after injury. A performance especially second half was excellent and I hope it’s given him the confidence to carry on the rest of the season to the high standards that he has set himself over the last couple of years. Gave Bobby my MOM for a faultless game.
The TAA pass for the 3rd remined me of Robbo’s pass to Salah from the other side of the pitch for the second in the thrashing of Man City last season - the bounce in the box taking the defenders out of it
That just clearly shows how the game has progressed into a clusterfuck of stupidity.
On the one hand you have a defender basically wrestling a player which is clearly not permitted under the rules but that’s fine in the modern game. But they decide to pick on a totally accidental handball infringement.
it’s like they’re selecting the rules they want to apply and which ones to ignore.
I think that is what rankles. The referee can allow play to continue if a foul occurs but then award a free kick if no advantage occurs for the disadvantaged team. In this case the lack of advantage occurred immediately after the foul. Usually the lack of advantage is the player losing control and that is what happened here as I don’t think Bobby would have handled it had he not been pulled back. This seems to be standard when a player doesn’t go down like a sack of spuds but surely VAR should allow a player the opportunity to try to play on with disadvantaging them?
I can. You can clearly see that Dier’s hand ball knocks the ball across Firmino’s body. There is no way Firmino can reasonably be expected to react to that. Hence unintentional hand ball, play on and goal!
I make the laws up as I go along, just like everone else it seems.

Roly Poly Moss only rescued us at this stage of the game because he knew he had another 85mins to F*** us over.! If Son had scored with only 5mins to go… that goal would have stood!
Cheating Bastards all of them.!
He did, didn’t he? I think the main problem is that since they’re only allowed to look at goal decisions, once the goal was disallowed they don’t have many options, unless I’m much mistaken…
