12 more 1:0 wins would do me. Solid defensive performance.
It wasn’t a great game (conditions didn’t help), but we were better than them and found a way to win. Truth be told I’m already looking ahead to the summer because I can’t wait for this season to come to an end.
Gutted for Endo - you know it’s a bad one when it’s enough to take him out on a stretcher, put a real good shift back there.
A great morale boosting ‘away from home’ win. We needed that win. Our Centre-Backs were brilliant tonight.
I was abit disappointed that Flo and Mo didn’t score tonight, they really tried and they were abit unlucky.
Konate was almost flawless with his duels against Brobbey.
Konate and Robo MOTM for me.
Onwards and upwards. Let’s aim we get top 4 or 5.
Hope Endo’s injury isn’t that serious. He was really good toniight. ![]()
I am so happy Robbo didn’t go to Spurs in January. He dodged a bullet with that transfer move. ![]()
We shat on Ibou a lot earlier this season, so it’s fair to give him credit now. He’s stepped up massively in recent weeks.
Decent performance. Important result. God, we need to improve our finishing.
I went down like Endo on wet leaves after the derby at Anfield. Painful as fuck and could be ligaments I reckon. ![]()
Great win and I think we played very well against a very well drilled team that plays very well at home. They basically didn’t have any good chances, while we could have scored more if Ekitike, Salah and Wirtz had their scoring boots on.
Please Arne, let’s not get another dismal display after a nice game like tonight. Oh and looks like using players like Endo and Gomez can be beneficial to the team.
A change of name might help the lad. Calvin van Ramsay has a nice ring about it.
Yes, and no. I couldn’t stand the strain of watching us defend a one-nil lead in added time in every bloody game. I’d be a wreck by the end of the season.
We shouldn’t be so passive when defending a lead but Sunderland didn’t look like scoring, so it was a bit more understandable here than it has been previously.
Mostly good performances tonight. A serious lack in quality when in possession from Gravenberch and Ekitike aside, we did okay.
Not the most exciting game of football but the conditions were dreadful.
More than anything else I hope that injury doesn’t keep Endo out of the world cup. A tremendous effort from him tonight.
You probably will be anyway.
And my typing skills would be even worse.
I wouldn’t go as far as saying it was a great performance, but we handled the awful conditions and the hostile crowd as well as could be expected.
And managing out the game at 0-1 will do them the world of good.
The only black mark on the evening was the injury to Endo, who was having a really good game. Feel so sorry for him, and hope he is ready for the World Cup.
It seems like there is a curse on that position. Everyone who plays it goes down with something. Slot might not rate Calvin Ramsay, but God seems to be a huge fan.
Good result, just keep them coming!
Konate seems to have a new lease of life recently.Long may it continue.
MY MOTM.
Hope Endo’s injury is not as bad as it looked, finally gets a chance, was doing fine..then this.
Hope he is right for the WC.
The funny thing is we had plenty of chances to score another 4 goals but we had no luck at all.
Very pleasing to get the three points there. Keeps us right in the chase for the CL spots.
Bad pitch. Bad conditions. A very committed Sunderland side, unbeaten at home. We were carrying lots of injuries and have been stumbling along all season, sort of one step forward, two steps back.
Which is to say that all the ingredients were there for us to drop points, but we dug deep and came home with all three. Just what we needed.
Konate was my motm. Wirtz and Van Dijk the others.
Gutted for Endo. Looked a bad one. Maybe his bravery or pain tolerance worked against him as he tried to play on for a bit? Hope he recovers well and makes it to the World Cup. I hope that isn’t the last we see of him in a Liverpool shirt, but I fear it might be.
Gomez. Take a bow. Comes in. Does well. It’s what he does! Although to be fair, it should be comes in, does well, breaks down at some point … comes in, does well, breaks down, rinse and repeat. He would have been one of the very best defenders of the last decade were it not for an unreliable body. Nothing but respect for that fella.
The fight is on. We’ve had so much iffy stuff that I really don’t know what to expect, but the resilience we showed tonight was a joy to see.
I was really surprised to see the condition of the pitch. At this time of year, there is some wear and tear expected, but there were some really bad spots in odds areas which don’t see that much traffic. The sequence where Mukiele(?) was holding off Robertson which ended in a free kick for Sunderland was covered by a low angle close up camera, and that space near the corner flag was in terrible condition. Not just standing water from the rain, but large bare patches.
yeah that pitch really must be close to being a postponement… not sure what the threshold is, but you could see it in the players running…maybe contributing to the Endo roll of the ankle…the surface was incredibly unstable.
thought given the context of the surface that some of Ekitikes first touches were wonderful, just when he opened up he couldnt get his range right… so while it didnt look like a great performance, there were mitigating circumstances…
his pressing, or direction to press, needs to be worked on…their keeper had a few moment searly in the second half where he could have prepared himself a cup of tea before anyone even looked half interested…interesting the Jones was so far up the park, so late on, applying pressure to the keeper at 1-0 up, when for most of the game when it was 0-0 we didnt seem interested …despite the conditions being perfect to press…
puts into context exactly how good Virgils and especially Ibous game was…
thought Wirtz was really good in the first half, but just floated around the edge of the game after that.
great result, tough to judge the performance given the surface…
get well Endo.
Issue is we had far less possession 2nd half so couldn’t get the ball to him in the dangerous parys of the pitch.
2 points behind the chavs and 3 points behind Manure! All it is takes another round of dropped points from the Chavs and Manure and we don’t fuck it up, we can go up to 5th or potentially 4th!
