Thats the best interview I’ve seen from him in recent months, he seemed calmer, hopefully things might just steady down into some sort of run in, if that calm can stay and transmit to the players. When a team underperforms for so long it always renders a semi-neurotic environment, the presence of which, for me, has been our biggest performative problem of this period. This slump sent us a bit nuts and it’s encouraging to see Slot seemingly with an improving mentality. The strain he’s been under sowed all too well in too many earlier interviews.
If I’m honest we played the best we could on such a pitch. I’m cool with tonight hopefully can build on it.
So, presumably, now that Joe’s had a run out, Dom can go back into midfield and we’ll have a much more balanced look. Added to which, Frimpong should be close to a return, which will make the whole right side look healthier.
The next couple of matches are winnable if we play like we did in this match.
@calvin Ramsay…
If you’re reading this…
You can put away all those Voodoo dolls of our players that can play at RB.
Cheers.
Hope Endos injury isn’t too serious.
Excellent win, 3 desperately needed points and a pretty good performance in difficult conditions.
We managed to handle their threat with ease and if we could find that elusive final pass, we would have wrapped things up more comfortably.
The two centre backs were again excellent. Konate in particular has been flawless since his return and while no one would shed a tear if he left before, right now he’d be a big loss.
Upsetting to see Endo go down like that, it didn’t look good and he was having a really good game. All the best to him for a speedy recovery.
really hope Endo-san will be ready for the World Cup. His injury was the only negative from the game as I felt the lads played well considering the weather and the pitch
Endo was fantastic especially as he isn’t a right back. I love the lad - he never moans or complains and will play wherever asked. Gutted for him last night and I just hope he is fit for World Cup - and I hope he stays at LFC.
Is it me or does it all feel a bit safer with Robbo in the side? Just think VVD prefers playing with Andy. I thought he was superb especially in the first half as most of the attacks come down our left. Imagine Diaz on the pitch last night with Robbo - wouldve been a joy.
We look more balanced with him in the side. Kerkez done well of late and is still young (as TAW pointed out, at Kerkezs age, Robbo wasnt even at Hull yet) and plenty of time to grow into role. Robbo has been there and seen it all and I just think his experience is crucial in the run in. He cant play every game but would like to see him a lot more.
Wirtz - just love watching him play. Glides along the pitch.
Everyone did their job and Ali was well protected by Virg and Konate.
Jones was excellent when he came on and Mac was crunching into tackles which has been missing this season.
Solid all round performance and considering I thought we would lose, once the game started we looked up for it and took control.
Build on it lads!
More so than having Robbo in the team the thing that made me feel secure was that Sunderland’s RW consistented of Trai Hume, a RB, before being replaced by a 20 year old with less than 50 career appearances.
Realistically this was about as easy a game as any Premier League LB could hope to have.
If Endo’s injury is as bad as it looked, we’ve possibly seen him in a Liverpool shirt for the last time. He’s almost certainly out for the remainder of the season and is probably being moved on in the summer.
His contact expires in June 27. If it’s a really bad one, like an ACL, he isn’t going to easily find another club, and he’ll stay until his contact is up.
19 more surely? The CL please
I just saw a comment on the Guardian website:
Our right backs remind me of the drummers in Spinal Tap.
Also:
My goodness you wouldn’t want to get picked as RB for LFC right now, would you?
It would be like James T Kirk handing you the red shirt before you all get beamed down somewhere
If only we could arm our shots that bit quicker we could score a few more goals.
I still don’t like how we never attack the ball, just stand waiting for it to come to feet, certainly isn’t a good tactic in such awful conditions.
Gravenberch looks like he hasn’t a clue what to do when he has the ball. It really holds us back. He shouldn’t be trying to get forward imo, just move it on with simple passes.
Still considering the conditions and the opposition a decent result. Unfortunately we have too much to address to go on a winning run, we just shouldn’t be in this situation this time of the season. A least our corners are improving.
Looked like his ankle? Fair play to him getting up and defending the corner when he could barely stand. Has hardly been played all season and still had the mentality to give it all
I suppose so, but he got stretchered off in the end so it might not have been the most sensible thing in the world. It might have cost him a worse injury than it otherwise was.
Happy with the 3 points but my lord is our midfield a mess. We look 2 players short in there at times.
Enter reasons for that here as I honestly can’t put my finger on it.
Tactically off? Form? Trying to blend with Wirtz in particular?
