Post Match: Toulouse v Liverpool (EL 9/11/23 5.45pm)

Well, the match was a bit wild to say the least - seemingly where we were and also on the pitch judging from reports. Were we were standing, it was quite a bit wilder… The cheap tickets (which weren’t that cheap) were for the home end - which they seem to have oversold by at least 50%. We never found our seats and were stood in the aisle for the game. There was little view for me and less for my son. What view there was, was continually obscured by a giant black and white flag about 15 rows in front of us…

All in all a less than ideal introduction to watching football for my son but it means that I’ll have to go at least one more time to even out the experience! Every cloud an all that.

Oh, and apparently there was an actual game of football played about 30 meters in front on a green pitch - I think.

Did your son enjoy the experience?

We went to watch a game and didn’t really manage to do that - I won’t say more.

Diaz did get him back with a lovely crunching and fair slide tackle later on

Disagree. I think it’s very much more the case where we can’t return the favour because the refereeing is too unbalanced. How often do you see our players getting kicked to death with no recriminations, while the other team’s players fall over nowhere near our player and they get a foul?

Thiago* is also not shy of getting physical.

*when fit

When was that?

Not been true for several years

How so? Have we been soft for a few years now?

I don’t know a single better way to describe what we saw from our midfield in 2022/2023 than soft. Invisible? Non-existant, maybe?

The midfield is better this season in every single way possible. Its not perfect but Henderson and Fabinho in 22/23 may well have been the the worst starting midfield we’ve had in decades. Awful.
