Post Match: Villa v Liverpool (EPL 19/2/25 7.30pm)

I thought the ref was best weve had for a long time

Should have won that if we had a decent centre forward.

I’ve given up on us winning this title with a bit to spare, it will all come down to the Arsenal game at Anfield I think.

The same City who get carved up virtually every game.

I hope we stop this trying to see out narrow leads. As I said, it wasn’t a controlled passage to a point here. Villa were unlucky not to find a winner.

Other than blatant handball missed.

Fair shout that. The corner flag effort in the first half was so bad I’d forgotten about it.

The problem with that is that we know what Jota can do and we know he is rusty.

Darwin has nothing in the bank to give him credit through lean patches.

Villa strolled past some of our defenders.

except this time, we get carved up easily as well! and they have forwards now to share the goal scoring burden from Haaland while we are so so reliant on Salah and to a certain extent, Gakpo…

This was a tough fixture. It has been tough for all top teams coming there, so no surprise that we struggled against a good side with an excellent manager.

Yet again, the performance wasn’t great, but - glass half full perspective - the lads managed again to get out of a difficult situation after trailing.

A hard game awaits us again in three days time, hopefully the lads will be able to rest and regroup before going there and hopefully get a result against the oil cheaters.

Yes, I think so. He actually had a good season last year, for all the hate he got, but he’s gone backwards. Time to move on sadly.

Jota didn’t miss from 8 yards out with no other player in frame.

Interesting stat

Liverpool play one Premier League game between February 26th and April 2nd.

Going to be a tough ride until the end of the season having to rely on the same 13 players.

Mac and Grav look physically and mentally worn out. We still try and run about but the intensity isn’t the same and that 10% drop is enough to really kill our season. Draw after draw after draw - even the wins look less convincing, lead at the top getting shorter and shorter, yep…we’ve been here before.

“Liverpool only win 3 points in a whole month. Advantage Arsenal.”

No we ran… they fumbled a few passes on and suddenly there in the box.

It was generally quite poor at the back again.
