Post Match: Villa v Liverpool (EPL 4/10/20 7.15pm)

I tend to agree about Keita, I’ve been desperate for him to be a success. He’s in his third year here now and I’m still waiting and I’ve lost patience. There’s a reason he was hooked at half time, he was shit! Can’t believe we spent 60 million on him.

But we’ll still have Adrian in goal.

Lads and Lasses I give you some fantastic news, for your consideration:

There are 34 Prem matches remaining. We will be back.

In another few weeks tonight’s result will feel like ancient history.

When Adrian came in for Alisson last year, the first game was horrible, but the team adapted to him. We just need to drop the line a bit, and not expect him to be another outfield player.

I agree, but I think he’s been around long enough now to know when to put your foot through the ball and just clear it. It might not be pretty but sometimes it’s necessary.

Adrian was dreadful at passing the ball and seemed scared to come out in the one on ones he faced. We could not build from the back because of him and the long ball service had a day off. Gomez was dreadful and VVG was not himself. Early days but I don’t like what I see from Diogo. He seemed to be taken out of the game when the referee did not give him a couple of 50/50 plays he was involved in.

Credit to Aston Munich, they gave the game of their lives.

For all the critism of Gomez it got worst when Fabinho took over.
Really we were toothless defensively today, nothing to do with high lines or personel, just plain lazy defending from 1 to 11.
We missed Mané he adds to the midfield allowing the midfield to slide over to the left. Jota wasn’t to be seen, nor more surprisingly was keita when we needed to defend. Wijnaldum for all his arm waving just seemed to confuse himself, he is not a proactive player at the best of times so extra responsiblity shouldn’t be handed to him (I mean he’s always reacting to situations never anticipating so why is he telling others what and where they should be?).
Anyway I thought defensively the midfield were shite tonight the number of times I saw TAA having to cover 2 even 3 players was alarming and made him and Gomez look like mugs. VVD was struggling as well with the lack of cover, a serious contender for captaincy should have this sort of shit sorted very quickly (Milner came on far too late).
Also I didn’t understand our subs. Why take Keita off, was he injured?
If he was injured why not bring Milner on to provide leadership?
If he wasn’t injured just tell tyhe players to sort it out.
Keita for Minamino though? What were the coaching staff hoping, either bring Milner on to captain or Jones on to do what Keita and Wijnaldum weren’t doing.
Anyway that’s all for now I’ll get on to Fabinho tomorrow perhaps.

We lost big however in the 1st half we controlled a lot of the game and created chances we just didn’t finish enough of our chances off and they finished off the few chances they got due to a very sad defensive effort from our lot.

Ahh ahem…

Who’s Gazzaniga? Is he related to the other Gazza?

Haven’t seen anything from a reputable source but wouldn’t be against that move. Played well against us last season, thought he was a pretty good stand in for Spurs but for whatever reason Mourinho went out and got Hart.

You’re having a mare today. The deflected shots were times when we’d let them run at us with all the space and time in the world to have a crack at goal. We deserved to concede more like 10-12 goals today, it was that bad.

The midfield were gash and the high line got exposed over and over and over again. Gomez, TAA, VVD, Fabinho, and Bobby all need to have a serious look at themselves after that pish. Not a one of them were close to the standard required.

Blaming this on luck or the run of the green is silly.
