Post Match: Villa v Liverpool (EPL 4/10/20 7.15pm)

Anybody who saw the shit defending we did in preseason would have seen this coming. The ridiculous high line with Gomez in there and a shit keeper is asking for trouble. Coupled that with Naby who I don’t know what he’s good for, a want away Genie; we were just asking for trouble.

The saving grace is the transfer window is still open, replace Lovren for fuck sake with a decent defender, I don’t care from where. They are out there.

Trent was playing like a moody guy who doesn’t want to mix with other 10 players… He was neither defending nor attacking… Roobo was awesome…

Since even last season, I’ve been anti-Gomez as he’s to inconsistent, and he gets burned to often to be chance! Every player has a couple bad games. Hell, even VVD gets taken out and scored on occasional, but with Gomez it’s to many times to just be bad luck. He should be replaced unti and if he proves a consistent defensive back!

Allison out for few weeks it seems… Can’t get worst…

Roy Keane: “The defending against Arsenal was sloppy.”

Liverpool defenders: “Sloppy? We’ll show you sloppy!”

Absolutely. They had 3 or 4 more excellent chances and looked like scoring every time they attacked. They exposed a soft under belly and the most disappointing part for me is that Klopp failed to react. The highline was undone time and time again and we made no adjustments.

exactly and the pressing needs to be top notch so the opposition does not have time to pick a pass thru the line

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk talking to Sky Sports: "It’s hard to lose the way we lost tonight. First and foremost well done to Aston Villa, we have to give them the credit they deserve. It was one of those performances where we weren’t 100% at it from start to finish. The goals we conceded we should have done, but also the chances that we had, we should have done better. Overall we’re all disappointed, we shouldn’t have lost with the numbers that we did but it’s about sticking together and making sure it doesn’t happen again.

“You can’t take the credit away from Aston Villa, but we should have been more clinical. In all aspects of the game we should have done much better. It’s important not to get crazy but we’ve got to step it up and the performance level between the Arsenal league win and today was too big.”

Yes, they deserved the win it is just that we stood there and let them be sharper is what annoys me. Kick someone, show that you mean business, be an asshole on the pitch sometimes don’t let them run all over you.

Well said, Virg.

I know that I’m still having trouble/challenges negotiating my way around the new anfield noise format…maybe the team feels the same? (looking for any plausible excuses for that performance)

VVD’s mention of the Arsenal performance (plus our demolition of Chelsea) shows what a brainf@rt today was

I don’t understand people calling us arrogant.

Yeah I thought Trent had a strange match. Uneven effort and half jogging at times, he seemed to be on a different page than the rest of his mates. Looked completely disinterested and disengaged from proceedings. Late in the match Mo was covering deeper than Trent on the right.

I say this again, that entire thing felt bizarre. It was so poor, and out of character, that it almost felt choreographed. If that makes any sense. Obviously it wasn’t, but I’ve never seen anything like it. Just…bizarre.

Not making excuses but genuinely curious as to whether more of our team have undiagnosed COVID-19. Gomez usually never less than 6/10 and that was one of the worst individual performances
I’ve seen at any level
