Post Mortem: Liverpool v Man Utd (EPL 19/10/25 4.30pm)

This one is fully on the manager. Bad setup at the start. Problems from the last 3 matches still prevalent.
We are one of the worst teams on setpieces, be it attack or defence.
Isak is not fully fit yet.
Moh is utter horrible right not. He should not be starting.
Bradley and Kerkez not convincing at all.

I was talking about missing out on him last season though. We were fine when we still had Trent but both our full backs have been found wanting this term and a ball playing controller like Zubimendi is just what seem to be missing.

It’s all linked though.

It’s all well and good creating a few chances with Isak, Gakpo, Salah, Ekitike and Chiesa all on the pitch attacking the kop end.

Resorting to ridiculously overly aggressive tactics isn’t a ringing endorsment of our football.

I was in Assisi today.

I prayed.

I think we all know who is to blame…

Well, it’s either him or Jebus.

Thought you meant this summer.

I’d find it hard to revise decisions made last season given we won the league.

God?

The decision was to buy him but we missed out. We’d be in a much better place now with him on board (or someone similar).

(You could have answered ‘chiesa’ for some fun international wordplay)

He does go to collect the ball in midfield however never receives it. Which is more than can be said for McAlistair and Szoboszlai.

How many times did Gakpo cut in and shoot today? he hit the post twice and also missed a header, Mo missed a chance today in the same position and had 3 chances last game from where he normally scores from, even Slot mentioned this after the Chelsea game..

They have always received the ball in a similar position under Slot when playing down their side, they tuck in when it is on the opposite side.

I am lost on this also, with an outswinger you need a better contact to score, where with an inswinger it is more of a glance as the pace is on the ball and you are helping it on it’s way

Feeling desillusioned. The lack of reaction after Manure’s first goal was mind boggling crazy.
Impotent up until some replacements came on.
Coaching ream haven’t any balls, don’t know who the driving players are and need to do something other than sit on their laurels.

No MOTM for me as I wanted to give it to all four replacements (I know Frimpong came on however he didn’t change anything) and couldn’t decide which 3? deserved it more.

I think that is about the measure of where we are now. He was not good, he specifically struggled in possession even against a side that didn’t apply that much pressure, but didn’t do a whole lot badly wrong (i’d have to look again at the second, because there were a lot of free players on the back post). So not great but not too many players making a better case for themselves.

If you lose something as dangerous as Trent’s passing from deep of course it will hurt, but we saw plenty of evidence last season that what we were trying to do worked just fine even with the very different Bradley in the side so I dont buy that as a critical issue causing this fall off. When I look at the biggest difference between us this season and last its the application and effort, and I am normally think that is the lowest common denominator sort of explanation for these things (they just wanted it more). We are conceding goals because players are switching off before the job is finished. Players are running off us because we have players thinking its someone else’s job to run with them. We’re much worse at moving the ball because players aren’t getting into position quickly enough to get available for the right pass. There are any number of reasons for that to happen, but it tends not to fix itself by continuing to play your under performing favourites game after game.

Trent would drift in the middle to give us that outlet it left gaps but I wonder.
