Fortunately there are about 100 halves left this season. Can’t get much worse than that.
Fulham have learned the Atletico Madrid trick of dishing it out, but when they get the same in return, they milk it to try to win the foul (or get the crowd to hound the ref). Example being the snide Andreas Pereira purposefully putting his head back into Matip and then rolling about.
Fulham performance not surprising – first game of the season so will give it their all. They have done well to not allow our front three into the game (until the last few minutes).

I like the way the refs are allowing more physicality though, noticed it in the Arsenal game and now this one. Trying to reduce stoppages it seems

Hard to pick out any player doing well.
The MF has been especially poor. Can’t match the intensity, can’t control the game, missing simple passes…
We have been pretty poor in possession with no purpose yes they are pressing well but we just keep playing into areas where we can be trapped and it seems when Matip and Virg have the ball there are no outlets. The only one in midfield copeting and being composed is Thiago and we look ok when playing through the lines but we are also loose with our 1st touch

Guys I mean this more as an observation than a meltdown but how many more times do fans want to use “start of the season” as an excuse…we knew for months when the season was starting and pre-season is to prepare for the start…every club has the same time to prepare so I don’t understand people who use this to justify such a poor performance…I can guarentee you Chelsea/City won’t be this flat later and to should we not win this giving these teams a head start so early is not a good look.
The cross was deflected and Mitrovic had two hands on Trent’s shoulder when he jumped in.

to be fair, I have a feeling this season will be a struggle. we will miss mane and his direct runs and our midfield is older and slower. will be tough this season
That’s unfair on Bobby. In this match , he’s being forced on a slightly 10ish role which would still have been okay if it was Nunez upfront.

Struggling with the small pitch I feel
Matip. Which is a reflection of the game. He’s had to be on form to ensure this wasnt worse.

Have you seen Diaz? He looked very good that half, nice and direct, but also comfortable in tight spaces.

100% Its notable that Fulham are squeezing the ball really well, but are still spread out well enough to defend the long switches

Seems like a common issue the past couple of years. The smaller pitches seem to throw us off. We could really use a direct threat like Mane in this match
