Pukki has great movement. Holds the line well

What? Kostas has been brave going forward. At the back it’s not just him, VVD looking really slow at times. Anyway I highly doubt Norwich will be able to maintain a high press for the full 90 without opening up a lot more space for our attack.

Great game to watch, Norwich sitting deep but actuallt do try to play football and for the first 15 minutes were looking good, however, we have gradually got control of the game and deserve to be 1 or 2 goals in front.

With being deep there is little space to play through them and very little space for Naby or Ox to get too involved in the final 3rd and would be the same for Elliot. We are in control and no need for changes yet

Strange game so far. We were pretty much under the cosh against a brave Norwich side which doesn’t want to renege on it’s playing principles, and play some very decent football. At some point, it really seemed as if we were going to crack under the pressure. Milner hopelessly off the pace, and reacted with a bad tackle in the midst of the field, getting a deserved yellow card.

Then, hardly two minutes later, we play a quick counter, and with a lot of luck, the ball gets to Jota who slots it in. Since then, we have seemed more comfortable, but it’s not over yet. We need that second goal sooner than later. I don’t trust this midfield and this defence to keep a clean sheet during the full 95 minutes.

A way to solidify things a bit would be to take Milner off and get Fabinho in. I also wonder whether Klopp will really take the risk to keep VVD on the pitch for the whole ninety minutes. This isn’t a pre-season friendly, and the intensity is murderous, especially as nothing is won yet.

Let’s cross fingers and hope that our lads will take the sting out of the game as it goes on, and will be able to score that second goal asap.

Kostas is fine. Saw a fair amount of the ball, having a decent game.

Not at the level of Robbo, but he offers a decent back up option.

On ten minutes. Tsimi put a cross in which was cleared by a defender for a corner. But Krul came out and got nowhere near the ball and cleared out Manè (?). Anywhere else on the field that’s a free kick. One of my bugbears about officiating is that these kind of challenges are never picked up.

Anyway, a decent first half. Jota took his goal well after a mis-control from Mo. Good performances all over the pitch and some better ones too.
A repeat performance second half please. COYR YNWA :+1::nerd_face:

I think we can afford to maybe give Vvd 90 in this game actually since we are 1 up. But Fabinho for Milner later on seems wise. But VVD needs to be played in form. Better now than against the truly fast and lethal counter attacking teams.

With Fab on, we should have more control and might not need to take off VVD I feel.

I’m more concerned for his health, rather than for the result. Although our defensive line looks far from secure with him in there.

Pleased with the boys at half. Not our sharpest but rarely look truly beaten. This is our 2nd string midfield let’s not forget. Quality should see us through, happy to get another one early but that’s not exactly the Liverpool way is it?

One thing is certain, clean sheet in this match and I assure you every other “title challenger” better be on notice because clean sheets early on the road equals good things to come

Think Keita and Ox aren’t doing a lot either in attack or in pressing & closing.

He may actually need a lot of mins too. I trust out medical team to know if playing 90 will be risky though.

Fabinho on after 55 mins please

Unfair on Keita but fair on Oxford IMO. COYR YNWA :+1::nerd_face:

Good Norwich start again. Hopefully it won’t last.

Wouldn’t have minded seeing Naby more in the 6, think it would come a bit more naturally to him. Seem to recall him doing a little bit of that back during his time at Leipzig, though more as part of a double pivot.

Shoot there Diogo

Come on lads, score the second, settle my nerves
