Pre and In Match Thread. Liverpool vs Chelsea. EPL. Sat 28th Aug. 1730 hrs

I felt Tsimikas should have started. Momentum was on his side on the back of two impressive displays.

The decline in Mane is more alarming than Bobby.

it is like we keep passing and passing like an aimless tiki-taka…

Maybe he shouldn’t have started if he couldn’t last the game, but a change in midfield needed to be done earlier to change our way of playing.

Hendo dropping into the back 4 to receive the ball with no one near our other defenders is a waste of a player

Can complain about Azpi play acting and lack of injury time, but fact is we were no where near good enough in last 30mins

Bit of an anti-climax

Where were Minamino and Origi?

Post match thread?

Where was Keita and Ox too.

Well he didn’t trust him to start.

Chelsea will likely finish the season with the best GA record in the league. They showed up with a focus on defending and after the sending off doubled down on that. People treating that result like an indictment of our players or what we’re trying to do need to have a sit down

Tactically very poor from Klopp, basically he kept the same formation for the entire match.
Ox or Keita should have come on.
Nothing against Elliot, but the kid should never have lasted 90mins.
Very disappointed

I agree. I would have subbed Mane before Bob.

As for the refereeing, absolute joke. Anthony “bluemoon” Taylor is a disgrace. Nothing added for all that time wasting, and every time they fell down they got a free kick.

but we needed that penetrating run from the middle… the out wide and cross shit is so 2 seasons ago and has been sussed out by the opposition for a while now

Truthfully Chelsea should have won that. Lucky for Joel to get a boot on Lukaku’s point blank shot.

I think our boys were lucky to leave with a point.

Should Klopp considering playing with an attacking midfielder? Someone who can make those thrusting runs through the middle.

Chelsea are excellent defensively. On our side we had a whole half to break them down, but we didn’t play with enough intensity, most of it in front of Chelsea. Very tough to break them down though.

Those blue scums were sitting back waiting for a cross to come in…Absolutely nobody in our midfield could dribble! If we had a good dribbler, we would have disrupted their shape! Hendo went off too late for Thiago. Elliot has found out today that top level midfielders are very very different from what he saw in the championship.

Wum?
