Pre- and In-Match | Wolverhampton vs Liverpool | Saturday September 16th 12:30h

I used to work with one of the guys that did the PL draw and the number of rules that they had to incorporate made the possible fixture list quite limited.

We are regularly involved in Europe so that is going to cause our games to be either early or late. We can’t play at home at the same time as Everton. Our home and away games have to be varied and so on.

Given that we have Thursday night football this season, the international breaks are amongst the few times that they can fit an early kick off in. I’m assuming whoever has that TV package would prefer to have us more often as we are one of the bigger draws.

… or if Man City were to play tomorrow or Monday.
I agree that greater analysis is needed however there are matches regularly on Sundays and Mondays these days so it’s quite possible that a ‘top’ team gets greater benefit than we do!

After such a promising start to the season I’m already of the mindset that anything less than three points would be a disappointment. I know a lot of people think this lot are crap but when I saw them at Utd they weren’t too shabby , and they always manage to give us a game. Hate this fixture tbh , shite ground , plastic club , toxic fans. Come on Reds , make a statement.

Agree with the rest of your post, but what makes Wolves “plastic”?

They’re a founding member of the football league, had success in the past and don’t attract glory hunters as fans.

The fact that it’s basically a Portugese outfit.

Their owners and all their players aren’t from Wolverhampton? Plastic as fuck then.

Klopp seems to think that it makes a difference.

And we are hardly the only club that people want to watch and yet City have played 8 fewer games at 12.30, whereas Utd 7 and Arsenal 9.

Explain why Liverpool have twice as many early starts as any other top club following international breaks.

Without the tinfoil “jokes”.

More people would therefore watch on Sunday?

And the 2.5 hours early isn’t the only issue. Its about shorter preparation etc.
Someone has to play at this time, given TV deals.

The question is why Liverpool have this fixture three times more than City for example?

Watching the world athletics recently and one of the commentators mentioned that athletes didn’t like the early starts times as their bodies were not quite ready/right until later in the day.

Everything has to be on point nowadays.

Sleep. Nutrition and its timing. The pre match walks are not for some team bonding bullshit - it’s gets body and mind going. What about the jetlegs?

Have we talked about preparation yet? Klopp said he haven’t seen some of his South American players yet and we have a match in less than 24hrs.

Can’t believe there are still Liverpool fans who try to defend what is happening to us for years now.

No one wants to watch City?

Because TV audiences want to watch us.
Definitely not coincidence… BT/Sky has most probably polled this: to them it’s always the numbers. We don’t like playing early but we are the bigger draw

… and 3 times that of the other ‘top’ club.

So all the athletes are equally disadvantaged?

I’ll tinfoil joke as much as I like thanks very much, I neither need, require or give two hoots as to whether you think they’re funny.

What’s more likely, there’s more money selling us at 12:30 on a Saturday or the whole league management is bent against us? Money, it’s almost always about the money. As for Sundays, it will be about Europe as mentioned above.

And of course Klopp will complain about it. Any and every excuse for a loss or a poor performance. Get it in early and you’re covered in the event of a bad performance.

But then whoever we’re playing probably had a similar number of players on foreign duty too so it’s actually irrelevant.

Because we have more than three times the fans? Should be 100 times more often as we can’t wait to see our amazing red hoard swarm all over the hapless opposition.

No, no, no corruption and shenanigans……

Not necessarily. You’re taking it on 1 race which everyone participates in at the same time.
