The fact I deliberately used “year” instead of “season” should be all you need to know it was sarcasm.
We are not doing well against teams with a brand new manager, Villa did not have many WC players besides that idiot goalkeeper so they love to show themselves to their new manager in their new system.
We have a lot of players who are either not ready or that are playing poor, and not optimistic but what else is new …

Can’t read a lot into a game in which 4/5s of regular defence is missing 3/5s if you stick Matip in there and where we are missing a few other key players especially in midfield.
Todays match was a bit weird. We didn’t seem to be pressing that much and especially not a lot up front. We seem to be light in midfield but that is not anything new. Thiago was oddly ineffective for large parts of the game. Pep may have found a way of turning open play situations into a set piece situation. Two or three time MC loaded a specifically small area to maximize KVBs crosses. Ake was the beneficiary in at least two occasions… a miss and a hit. Should we have adjusted to negate that?
p.s. why didn’t KVB get a yellow for kicking the ball away at the end?
