Pre- In- and Post-Match: LASK vs Liverpool, September 21 Thursday 17:45

Excellent first run out for our second ish team. Great to have a stable keeper who not only can stop shots but isn’t our 1st choice. Hello United

I get the impression you don’t like him very much.

Guys, Dutch just referred to an ex Ajax player as having a “decent first game”. To get that glowing a reference from him we must have a fucking diamond on our hands

Jury is still out there. He first touch must improve on the other hand he had some good turns and runs.

He clearly waited to long to play the ball just before he went off.

It was solid enough and he can be pleased with his performance, uses his body well both to protect the ball and draw fouls and is clearly a powerful runner with the ball at his feet, but some that passing hurt my head…deary me , counted 2 or 3 stray passes and another 3 that were easily intercepted which shouldn’t have been.

Got the win, that’s good. However, we needed the big guns to get us the win which is disappointing as the starting lineup should be comfortably thumping Linz…

A lot of new players with very little training together in a line up that isn’t usual.

To much of this when sides have lost to worse with better sides this evening.

Jurgen should just tell our players before kick off “Imagine you are 1 goal down”. Heck who knows, might just work.

Decent outing for what was largely a "second"team, but wouldn’t mind getting out of the habit of conceding the first goal of a game.
It only gives the BBC and others the chance to say we came from behind!
Bajetic seems to have done OK coming back.
Gravenberch seemed reasonable first up!

I don’t like this purple jersey. This means Jordan Pickford can blend in easily as our outfield player

Wasn’t able to see the match but caught the highlights. All’s well that ends well!

Nice result. Nice to see Doak, Gravenberch and Bajcetic see some action.

Nice to see Virg and Konate coming back together - not perfect, but a chance to start to get up to speed again.

The team was a bit stronger than expected, and we made good changes too. 3-1 away from home is lovely to see. Onwards and upwards.

Mind you, conceding the first goal again is careless, even if the lad won’t score another like it as long as he has a hole in his arse!

Up the reds.

Yes. The team should have done much better in closing down the eventual goal scorer. That said , It was a cracking strike.

This argument would have more merit if it wasn’t happening on an almost weekly basis. Of course having many new players starting doesn’t help, but let’s not pretend that the usual first eleven haven’t made a habit of starting games half asleep.

Besides, the same disjointed team that was so bad in the first half had a far more meaningful 10 minutes in the second and equalized after Klopp’s bollocking.

I thought Nunez’s penalty was well taken. Even though the goalie guessed right he couldn’t do a thing about it with the raw power and accuracy of it.

I thought the delivery of the corner was excellent as well. He picked out the lad who scored perfectly. :+1::nerd_face:

Yeah, that’s the theory. But then again, we see it all the time: big club faces small club away from home, players get rotated, the pitch isn’t great, the atmosphere in the ground is pumped up for the small home team, and then, an opening goal for the small team gets them up and running, and suddenly, it becomes difficult.

Eventually, the big team finds the ressources to win the game (in most cases).

In my book, this is a case of job done. There will be better games, and there will be other games when our lads simply need to come out with the win. That’s what they did yesterday night, even though it wasn’t the greatest collective performance. I’m quite satisfied to be honest, it’s a good start in this year’s EL campaign.

It’s happened once against Wolves after a international break, he then changed the side and it happened again.

Starting slowly and the performance for a whole half are different are slightly different.

Couldn’t watch this so followed it on here. Just out of curiosity I thought I’d look at how the bookies have weighed up this competition.

Unsurprisingly , they have us as favourites at 3/1 (pretty generous I’d say) , then comes Brighton , Roma and Bayer Leverkusen … at 14/1 !

You’d have to think that this represents our best opportunity for silverware this season.

In any case, this is the trophy I want us to win the most this season (except for PL of course, which would be waaaaay better, but also waaaaaay more difficult due to oil c*nts and incompetent refs). The Europa League:

  • is a (prestigious) European trophy (included in the Wall of Champions)
  • the only available trophy not yet won in the Klopp era
  • gives the winner direct qualification to CL next season
  • gives the winner a chance to compete for European Super Cup next season.

So what is not to like about winning the Europa League? I would pick it immediately over any domestic cup.
