Yes. We should not be going on about our own injuries in that case. And besides, Atalanta are a good team with a good style of play and some good players. That’s it, nothing more and nothing less. They have somehow been billed as a huge team with massive talent where we would be lucky to get a result at. No way we should be underestimating them but we should not be treating them like they are some kind of juggernaut either.

I hope we go strong tonight. There’s 5 days until the City game. We’ve got good momentum now and that’s just as important as players getting rest. If we win tonight we are more or less qualified already.
I’m looking forward to seeing Atalanta play. Sound like an interesting team. A couple of weeks ago I’d have been more concerned about this game as tactically we’d started to disappear down a rabbit hole, but there’s been a reset since Villa and we look more secure and like our normal selves. If we put a decent team out then I’m pretty confident we’ll have too much for them.

That team is set up for defeat though? Milner at DM is a bridge too far for him at the moment, and Origi should be confined to folklore. Thanks for those great memories Div, but your last couple of performances were muck.
The back four is too inexperienced as well and it looks more like a League Cup team than a team looking to nail a CL group win.
There is enough time till Sunday so we should go strong and get the three points here.

We do look more secure. Opposing teams don’t create much by themselves, I think we have allowed only 25 attempts at goal this season or something like that and that includes the Villa debacle. If only we could do away with our propensity to gift wrap goals for them, everything would be better.
We won’t get away with it against Citeh, nor Atalanta for that matter.

I’m looking at it this way.
If we have the last two games in the group as dead rubbers, this is the team everyone picks. No problems.
So why not, as we play City at the weekend - our most important match of the season, treat this one as a dead rubber and be confident of taking a win and a draw from our three remaining games (two of which are at home)?
Looking at our opponents after the next three, there is no challenge greater than City.
By the way, I don’t think Klopp is pathologically capable of throwing the game to the degree I have, so this is what I would play, not what I expect Klopp to do.

So what is the extent of Thiago’s injury. I know it was a bad tackle on him but he was back up quite quickly and played the remainder of the game without any problems it seemed. Nearly three weeks out and still not training?? Being saved for the City game?
