No, that was my point. Our loss rate after international breaks is probably in line with our loss rate in competitive matches.
A while ago to be fair.
Was it raining numbers when he took that picture?
They looked ok against Utd , but thatâs not saying much.
We always go down to the level of our opponents.
Some comfortable wins will do me good.
Seriously! Now I have two sleep timers. 1 sleep for press conference and 3 sleeps for game.
Ok
Fucking enough please.
The meme is irrelevant, not remotely funny and there is enough of him around without us adding to it.
Hopefully get my internet sorted out in time for the match tomorrow.
Highlights from the presser.
- Started late againâŠ
- Deadline day: lots of things happened. Most pleased getting Isak.
- Guéhi: Close to signing. These things happen. Would like to sign him. Current CBs were outstanding against Arsenal. Pity for us an Guéhi.
- GuĂ©hi in January: Slot wonât say!
- Isak: Thanks to Sweden boss for not overplaying him. We will introduce him slowly.
- Harvey: Positive for Harvey (also for Diaz). Move was in interest of everyone. Harvey conducted himself well - compliments to him.
- Core and variety in forwards: He has this now, but also was there last season.
- Injuries: Players are fit, trained together for first time today. Curtis not available against Burnley due to injury in last game. International managers have helped.
- Burnley: Defensively solid. Good team can cause problems.
- Isak personality: Slot hasnât spoken to him much yet. Slot tends not to contact players when on international duty.
- Do players have to act up to get a move: Itâs down to individual circumstances.
- Someone mentioned Forest! First game after international break: he has already made adjustments.
- Chiesa not in CL squad: Slot explained choice to him. He wasnât happy but accepted Slotâs opinion.
- How to make possession efficient: Wingers key. Early goals help (or hinder if conceded). Not front footed enough in 1st half against Arsenal. Derserved to win based on 2nd half.
TLDR: Curtis injured. We play Burnley on Sunday.
BBC Summary here:
- Curtis Jones is the only unavailable player for Sundayâs away game as âthe rest came back [from international duty] without a problemâ.
- He said they will have to âbuild upâ Alexander Isakâs minutes due to missing pre-season, so âdonât expect him to be playing every single game for 90 minutesâ.
- More on Isak: âWith us playing so many games thereâs little training time. That is going to be a challenge but we have not signed him for the next two weeks we have signed him for six years and the fans have to keep this in mind.â
- Slot said he has not spoken to the striker more than âone or twoâ times since signing on deadline day so he will âhave to get to know him as a person in the upcoming days and weeksâ.
- On Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, whose deal collapsed on deadline day: âIt would be ridiculous if I denied that we were close to signing him. These things happen in football. In the last moments things can change. Itâs a pity, not only for us, but for the player as well. Letâs see what the future brings for him and for us.â
- Slot praised Harvey Elliottâs work ethic and said his move to Aston Villa âis in the interest of everyone as he wasnât getting the game time he deserved for the quality of player he isâ.
- Opponents Burnley are âdefensively solidâ and should not be written off. Reflecting on playing newly promoted teams, Slot added: âWe know that every game is difficult and I only have to look back at last season to understand that. We had problems with Ipswich, Leicester and Southampton.â
- On Federico Chiesa being omitted from the Champions League squad: âItâs one of the most difficult things you have to do as a manager. I explained to him why we made this choice. Of course he wasnât happy, but I think he understood my argument. Thatâs not to say he agreed with them, but he gave the answer you want to hear from a player. Heâll be there to help the team in the cups and league.â
So, if everyone except Curtis is fit, it looks like there are two possible line-ups: one with Dom at rb and another with Connor at rb and Dom in midfield, presumably in place of Macca (long flight, jetlag etc). I can see the arguments for both and I guess itâll be about sharpness in training.
Still donât know about Burnley, but guess theyâll be well organised, difficult to break down and a danger from set pieces (long throws?).
Canât wait for some real football.
I was thinking along similar lines, with a 4-2-3-1:
â Alisson
â Bradley KonatĂ© VvD Kerkez
â Gravenberch Szoboszlai
â Salah Wirtz Gakpo
â EkitikĂ©
Based on logic and what Slot said in todays press conferance, its unlikely Isak will start any of the next 3 games. Which means that Gapko - Ekitike - Salah will be our frontline in september
I fecking hate Burnley. That is all.
Laughed quite loudly on the train home.
