Pre Match. CL Group Stage Match One. Liverpool vs Atletico Madrid. Wednesday 9th September 20.00hrs

Keep the same starting eleven. Barcola on after an hour to get him up to speed.
They will be the usual yard dog hunters.
Three points.
Clean Sheet.
Thank you.

I really don’t look forward to playing Athletico horrible club to get drawn against!
They will try and make it difficult so I suppose a draw is on the cards.

Rotate a little.

AraĂşjo should probably start at CB.

I agree. Same side for me but with Kostas for Kerkez possibly. It’s a tough one to gauge because they are always difficult but it will be a cracking game I fancy.

I don’t expect too much rotation. I’d have Barcola in for Gakpo. Leave everything else the same.

It won’t be a cracking game. It will be a feast of diving, cheating, fouling and all round nastiness with about ten minutes of actual football. 5am kick off for that?

I would experiment with Gakpo behind isak at 10… Barcola left, Munoz right… Wirtz on bench… the rest the same.

I’m sure that Iraola and his team will know the personnel, tactics and formation to see us through this game.

We all know what to expect from this manager so we better be prepared, the same starting 11 or maybe if barcola is fit enough start him.

That’s all games today mate. :joy:

Referee Davide Massa from Italy.

Well, they got smashed by Bilbao the weekend, so I’d expect some shin kicking on Wednesday.

Would like to see Trey and Barcola get a start.

If you are expecting shin kicking (quite a mild term to describe AM tactics), why would you start Nyoni and throw the young lad amongst a pack of hyenas.

Expecting almost the same lineup as last weekend with subs coming on from 65th minute onwards.

Not expecting a Bilbao like result but a hard fought victory by 1 goal margin. A draw wouldn’t suprise me either

I have a sneaky feeling Barcola might actually start here.

Perhaps because in a CL match he might get some semblance of protection from the ref?
I do hope Nyoni gets some decent minutes this season and Rio. Perhaps a bit harder for Rio due to the number of our left wingers and not being as defensive as Munoz.

I get your point but there will be 1 ref on the field while there will be 10 AM players.

I’m with you, I think he should be on the bench for the moment and the manager deciding when, where and why he gives him minutes. Which is all I asked for Rio last season though imo Rio didn’t end up getting enough minutes.
We should be seeing where we are after 5 league games then in January. All this get this lad on so early in the season is a little pre emptive. Give the manager and players some time and see where it leads.

There’s only one way to learn to “toughen-up.” If there’s a match for the youngsters to feature it’s this one, especially since we are at home. Start with the same line-up as the previous match and then make subs if necessary during second half.
