Pre Match: Crystal Palace vs Liverpool (EPL - 27/09/2025 - 15.00 BST)

Why don’t we use this game to scout a player we might need in the next transfer window?

Wirtz starts with Mo and Alex. Hugo does not make the bench. Bradley on right back, Kerkez on left, usual cb, Mac, Dom, Grav.

Tough game, maybe made tougher by having Ekitike out.

Line up wise, I suspect it’ll be;

Ali

Bradley Konate Virgil Kerkez

Szoboz Gravel

Wirtz

Mo Isak Gakpo

I’d quite like to see the same midfield we had out v Everton for this, with Wirtz either starting on the left (instead of Cody), or coming on later in the game, and Macca in midfield.

I hope Fede gets some more game time.

Toughest game so far this season.

The next one always is.

Isak to start, Gakpo and Mo either side.
Szoboszlai, Gravenberch and Wirtz.
Bigger decisions are at full backs. Robbo was very good on Wednesday. Frimpong was better when pushed forward, think Bradley might get the nod at RB.

Because its the PL and what matters is the 3 points?

No injuries, no suspensions and 3 points. That is all.

I’d be happy with 4 points from the next two.

Hate playing palace, not just down to some bad results against them but the association with a certain former manager I chose to try and block out of my mind :owl:

I’m supposed to be out with the extended family on Saturday so will hopefully miss all the drama and arrive home to find out who scored the late winner this time without the preceding stress

We’ve got a really good record here, let’s hope it continues.

Allison - Bradley, Konate, VVD, Kerkez - Gravenberch, Szoboslai, Jones - Mo, Gakpo, Isak.

I’d sit MacAllister out of this one and possibly the game in Turkey. Sub on Wirtz and Chiesa 2nd half.
Hope Ekiteke’s brainfart doesn’t come back to haunt us.

These are the type of scenarios where big players step up, regardless of their fitness level. I’m not saying Isak has to get a hattrick here, but if he’s a top mentality player, he will look at this as a chance to come in, decide the game and possibly stay in.

I absolutely hope Mac can start here and give us at least an hour, absolutely zero doubt about that. We have these losses of control in certain matches (like Everton second half) and I want Mac in those situations. Unfortunately, he’s still not at 100%, but he will get there.

Not everything in football is good when it’s all 200mph an hour. Have to know when to also slow the game down when needed and it can be useful both for defence and attack.

Since Isak “has” to start, I think it would be pretty logical and smart to have Szobo as the closest midfielder to him. To have our best presser between the lines and closer to Isak, to compensate for his lack of fitness.

Then it’s either Szobo again instead of Wirtz, or potentially Wirtz on the left instead of Gakpo.

Since Ekitike is out and Isak almost surely won’t be able to play 90 minutes, Chiesa will probably get some game time up top as a backup striker.

I’m actually not quite sure who I’d go with at RB, but possibly leaning towards Bradley. I’d have Robbo ahead of Kerkez, but it also depends, since Robbo played the whole game the other night.
