Not going to bother watching this. The boys will still be hungover from their Dubai trip. Expect Brighton to run rings around us.
im gonna be the party pooper here and say we should be respecting the competition and the oponent and not heading off to Ibiza and Dubai and getting on the piss…disappointed the club is OK with it…
i know ill get pelters, and its not a hill im that interested in dying on…but i revert back to what i said above, respect the opposition and respect the competition…
i was actually hoping that was all just photoshopped garbage…
imagine the fume on here if Man City did same…
While I’d agree with you about the principle of respecting the competition and the opponent, I can’t help but wonder if it’s better this way, since the players would already have been in party mode anyway, so better to get it out of the system?
agree there are benefits from an interal POV, even from a POV of getting it out of the system so they can be fully reset by pre season, i can see heaps of reasons to let the hair down…i just dont agree with it…
not a hill im going to die on though…i just wont be joining in the mad bantz (like the billboard in manchester, and the arteta in a bridesmaid dress stuff) nor will i be defending the club over deciding to let the lads party whilst theres still a competition to be completed…
in the eighties, at least they had the cover of no social media and the decency to not advertise it…
its very much the kind of stuff that turns around and bites you on the arse… like the ‘stay humble’ comment, like the ‘photography’ session last season etc etc…
Nor the money to fly to Dubai, nor was it an attractive destination back then?
There was also an expectation that teams had to put out their perceived “best XI”. We won the league early in the 1982/83 season and the players more or less downed tools after they won.
One thing I do recall players saying at the time is that all they recall was being flat-out knackered at the end of the season. Even with more rotation 5 subs, there is still a big toll on the regular players.
I think I learnt on TAN recently that there were fines for teams that didn’t do this as recently as the 90s?
I remember Spurs being fined for playing their reserves in the league to rest their players for the UEFA Cup game midweek. I remember thinking it was very unfair at the time.
I’m sure that Arne and his team will know the personnel, formation and tactics to see us through this game. COYR YNWA
Any booing of our own players scheduled for this one or is that an Anfield exclusive?
Oh I’m going to miss this post for a few weeks after May
Save it as your wallpaper.
