Pre Match - Leicester v Liverpool - 20th April 2025 (Away) - 4.30pm - PL Match Day 33

If Bradley is fit and able to play the full 90 minutes every game then I don’t think any special consideration should be given to Trent.
He doesn’t want to play for Liverpool anymore. When he has played he’s often had a face like a well smacked arse and his attitude during the draw with Man U was a fucking disgrace.
Of course he should be allowed to celebrate but that’s it as far as I’m concerned.

A woman ref?!

@cynicaloldgit will be rolling over in his grave (God rest him).

Me too … a heart condition. And being able to watch our run-in , safe in the knowledge that it’s already in the bag , with no accompanying palpitations , is just what the doctor ordered. :slightly_smiling_face:

It’s probably so that you don’t notice the thug on the other side. I think this is the first time we have had Natalie Aspinall officiating one of our matches. I didn’t realise that she is the only other female official at the moment. Sian Massey-Ellis pops up quite regularly.

Oh hi Craig.

Once again, people superimposing their own beliefs onto the situation.

He’s had that criticism of him so many times over the years, that he just gives off the wrong body language, that he looks arrogant, not bothered, etc. It’s just now that Real Madrid is rumoured to want him that people think he just wants out.

I think old Cynnie would be sage enough to recognise that the women who have been involved in refereeing in the Premier League have been far better than the old boys’ club.

Thug indeed. It baffles me (but shouldn’t, really) how he’s permitted to referee any Liverpool games.

Um, this is not the first time we’ve had a woman assistant ref.

I’m also of the opinion that in an ideal world Trent shouldn’t play for the club again

It’s nothing personal. It’s just that if he is going, and Bradley is our right back next season, I want him to get the game time.

I also don’t want Trent backing out of tackles and holding back ahead of his big Balon d’Or move.

Trent has two immediate choices.
Sign a contract
Or say he is going and accept that there will be a bit of attitude against him at Anfield.
Whether thats justified or not is immaterial.

I don’t disagree with what you said.

My point was that people are still reading into things what they want to see, and projecting their own insecurities onto him.

Obviously delighted that we will be celebrating no 20 very soon but am I allowed to feel ever so slightly miffed how the cup campaigns and performances trailed off in the last few weeks. At the start of the season I would have settled for a top 4 and good runs in one or two cups but I guess I got carried away and started to believe all the media talk of us being the best team in Europe/world and to be fair at times we did look like that.

I suspect Arne and the players probably feel slightly disappointed too…

Not in the world, although we are up there among the top five imo. But in England? Most definitely. Even in our current patchy form, we have four wins from the last five games, on par with Newcastle and Aston Villa, who are currently in their best form of the season.

We have a difficult moment, probably due to us running out of steam a bit, with Slot not having rotated his lads as he could have done. But even now, we are an ultra-solid proposition for anyone. Best team in England without a doubt.

Absolutely. Having run out of road to find the misery in this season, the doom-mongers have moved on to next season, predicting we’ll struggle to finish top four, the others will strengthen, FSG are tight etc.

I think the recent patchy performances are a lot to do with tiredness, but also a lot to do with nervousness. Having a gap at the top is a double edged sword. It’s great to have that gap, but you must know at the back of your mind that if you throw it away from there you’ll be the laughing stock of football for a generation.

Just out of curiosity, do you know how many times, in around 130 years of existence, Liverpool have won more than one cup in a season?

Do you know how many times we’ve added a second trophy to a league title?

I don’t think anyone would begrudge you that.

I’m in a similar state, except I didn’t (and don’t) have any expectations for how we perform. It feels like a missed opportunity to me, but then again it could also be said that we outperformed what we could have seen before all of this, and this is just the natural limit we’ve hit.

I agree with @Hope.in.your.heart though, that Arne should have taken more risks with rotation. That said, I don’t think it helps us that much because for me the biggest issue we’ve had in recent weeks is just not having Alexander-Arnold, Bradley, and Gomez. Losing the first two is bad enough, but Quansah is no Gomez on the right.

If Alexander-Arnold doesn’t get injured, I’d say we’d beat both PSG and Newcastle.

Personally I’d feel that’s why it’s more important to involve the likes of Elliott, Endō, and Chiesa. They would be fresher, especially mentally.
