Pre match | Liverpool FC Vs PSG - 8pm - Tuesday 11/03/2025

Let’s continue this run and show we weren’t lucky over in Paris.

If Gakpo is available then start him other than that it picks itself. Hopefully Anfield picks itself up.

I’m sure that Arne and his team will know the personnel, formation and tactics to see us through this game. COYR YNWA :+1:

I think I read on here somewhere that they rested 8 players today. They will be well up for this one. They legitimately have a sense of injustice that their dominant display at home ended in defeat. The way I see it is that could make them go one of two ways.

Maybe they will double down and play that well again, determined to get what they feel they deserve. On the other hand perhaps it might make them doubt, as they probably can’t play better than that, and they still lost!

I would say they are the best side we’ve faced this year. Pace and power all over the park, and all of them can play.

It will be touch and go, but under the Anfield lights I’m thinking we will put on a good display and the crowd will roar us home.

2-1 Liverpool (3-1 aggregate).

Dembele for them. Very tough to stop when he’s on.
Van Dijk header for us, and Salah grabs a goal too.

I think we will be much better.

We need Mo to regain his touch - he’s looked below par for the last two. Hopefully Mac, Grav and Robbo aren’t too gassed as we’ll need all three to play really well.

This seems 50-50 and the most uncertain Ive been of a result all season (even before the Real game there was a sense it was a bit of a free hit).

Well it’s not because we are 1-0. So by definition it can’t be 50/50.

What’s your track record when calling it?

Bro is fasting for Ramadan!

Gapko being available would be a major plus. He’s been the second most influential player after Salah, and he’s been sorely missed.

It goes without saying that anything less than an 100% effort will not be enough. This is going to be a proper European night.

Two questions:

Firstly, is it wise to start a player who is only just returning from injury? Surely it would be more prudent to bring him on for the last half hour or so.

Secondly, if Cody does start then who does he replace?

Two answers:

Firstly, No, it’s not prudent. Using him as a sub, as you suggest, would be a better idea.

Secondly, Diaz.

I’m not really looking forward to this one. I’m expecting a different match to the one in Paris, but I suspect that it will still be a very hard watch.

From the Southampton performance, there are a few tired performances - Grav and Diaz in the 1st half. Hopefully Slot can find a solution for this or we will endure another long 90 mins. Hopefully Gakpo will be fit to be involved.

Big task ahead.

Performance from Paris and also partly on our yesterday’s first half needs improving in order to finish the job here.

I hope we don’t rely too much on the crowd (disappointing against Southampton, hence why Slot started to politely ask for fans’ support in a game like that, like Klopp used to). It can help, but our performance needs to be much better this time.

Need to play much better through their press, we lost too many balls through technical mistakes in Paris. Struggled to get out and regain some control. Also, raise our intensity, push them back more. More personality, because PSG will try to repeat the same and better, with more end product.

We have the lead but I don’t think we can play the waiting game here for the whole 90 minutes. We’ll have to show things we haven’t showed in the first game.

If Gakpo hasn’t returned already with a performance or two in his legs, I highly doubt he starts here. I think the best we can hope is him on the bench on Tuesday, then possibly start at Wembley. It’ll probably be either Nunez or Jota up top. I think he’ll go with Nunez.

If we can’t get this game won in 90mins… the dreaded extra-time, coming before the cup final at the weekend, is a scenario we don’t really want

It’s Tuesday - Sunday so we should be fine even with Extra Time.

Newcastle are playing tomorrow night so it’s not like they have 8 days off before the final or something.

Can see this one being just as excruciating to watch as Paris so I’ll be positioning myself behind the sofa for this 1. This is all about character and fighting spirit as well as being tactically on point. One thing you can’t be against this PSG side is passive and anything resembling that first half yesterday could see us down on aggregate.

I feel the same way Mr Whippy.

It’s going to be a very tough match and despite the score I don’t think we’re favourites at all.

Arne will have to be at his absolute best with selection and tactics.

Your mood and opinion of PSG changed drastically compared to before the first leg.

:joy:

Before the first leg I said they probably play a better style of football and have a lot of talented players…hardly reads “they’re shit and we’re going to blow them over” does it? Big deal if I brought up the fact they were brushing aside a host of teams that were nowhere near on our level.
