Pre-match | Liverpool V Arsenal | 4.30pm Sunday - 11th May 2025 | PL Game Week 36

Please don’t take this the wrong way, but…how can I say this…this is a different tone than you take when the match is on.

Priorities changed after Spurs, I wasn’t bothered about the Chelsea result, nor will I be the remaining games…my reaction after they’d scored their first was that it was a well carved out goal.

Win, draw or lose I still expect to see a decent level of performance no matter who plays, that’ll never change. Still think the best course of action is to play the Endo’s, Quansah’s and Chiesa’s…Arne himself said last week they’d deserved it, so it’ll be a little disappointing if it ended there and suddenly did a U-turn.

This is an important game. We need to kick Arsenal while they are down, give them a real sense that they are a long way behind and next season isn’t going to be any different. This is our most important remaining game and I want to see the best team out there and really put in a big shift.

LegoMan is trying to control the narrative and if we stuff them then it will all seem very hollow and the pressure will build:

" The FA Cup in Arteta’s first campaign as manager in 2020 remains the only silverware they have won under his management. Asked whether he felt this team is capable of taking the next step after missing out on the title again, he said: “Today I see how much they want it because they were in tears.
“This squad, two years ago, nobody believed that we could even probably qualify for the Champions League, not even think that we could finish second and compete in the league. Perhaps the amount of points that we had in any other year, you are champions. But the reality at the end is you need something to lose and that trophy with all the work that we do and the disappointment is we don’t have them.”

It’s how you react, first time we achieved a record points tally for a second place team we then went on and blitzed the league the season after.

We’ve reacted to our season falling apart last season by again accumulating a tally of points. Arsenal have reacted this season to two second places by not even putting up a challenge.

They can bang on about being the best side in the CL but they weren’t. They haven’t won it, they haven’t made the final and they didn’t top the group stage.

The top side had to play PSG while they played PSV and as evident with what happened over the last 2 legs they wouldn’t have got any further than last 16 if they had.

Oh and we also destroyed Real Madrid if they want to use that.

This is delusion on a Trumpian scale. The guy’s just making a fool of himself at this point.

I know there are supporters who think the “dead rubber” games are of no consequence.

Well, I think this is. Our “closest” rivals need a bit of manners put on them before the season ends.
Gravenberch back, Szoboszlai and Macca with him in midfield. I would start Bradley, Konate, Virgil and Robbo.
Salah, Gakpo and Diaz at CF.

No mercy.

Yeah no mercy.

Get Tsimikas in (he’s our best Lb at this time, Robbo can deputize for him)

Get Bradley in.

Everything except that is rather Chiesa start in the #9. I think we would be better. And he frankly deserves the chance.

I’m with you. Another meaningless game that neither club will want or relish. Get the next three games out the way, get the trophy, have the parade and let’s all have a well earned break..

I suspect this will be treated by both sides as a stroll in the park and rightly so. Let as many as possible have a run out and no injuries please.

I have been fortunate to have witnessed 15 of our title wins and these games are always an anticlimax. No-one ever remembers them…

I think that expectations should be tempered:

Liverpool squad take ‘on the beach’ literally with break ahead of Arsenal - Liverpool FC - This Is Anfield

Probably tells you who is starting and who isn’t.

VVD going out to a comedy night in Manchester isn’t that odd really.

Rambler goes to see Queen…or Pink Floyd, or Tom Waits or Kylie Minogue…whoever his taste in music (thats still alive)…

He leaves before the encore. Every time.
Their work is done…the party’s over.

Dreading this.
We’ll have to be at our absolute best to even think of competing against 100% the best team in Europe.

You need to do the pre game gee up!

If anything, WE should be giving them a guard of honour.

I was going put “comedy” in quotations to be fair.
