Pre-match | Liverpool V Arsenal | 4.30pm Sunday - 11th May 2025 | PL Game Week 36

Given Aretetas claim about having won the previous 2 PL seasons given what we win it with (with 4 games to spare), i want us to not only smash these, but win our remaining three and end up 91 points, beating Arsenals best of 89 over the last 2 seasons.

As I have posted elsewhere, their best ever was 90, under Wenger. We’ve got a chance to better that for the fourth time this season.

This is a game by comparison against Arsenal they have only been in front of us once by a point when having played same amount of games.

Forest…

I wonder how much Arsenal will have recovered from their exit midweek? How will that compare to our lads who will have had all week to sit around laughing in the pub?

Anyway… Arne has made it out of 'Spoons for his usual 09:00 slot:

They’ll be deflated and we’ve already kicked off the slippers and put our feet up. Though it would be nice to beat them at least once this season, no injures, and maybe a Chiesa start is about the limit of my hopes.

Mo Salah needs 2 goals or assists to claim the record for most in a season.
I hope he achieves that on Sunday. Even by two dubious penalties.

Federico Chiesa has his medal matches quota. I hope he scores a PL goal on Sunday.

Arsenal have whined and moaned all season. They need a fucking hammering to rival all hammerings.

This is an opportunity to cement the difference between the teams. No fucking mercy.

Summary of the press conference.

  • Arne shows up late again with egg stains from his 'Spoons Full English brekkie.
  • Trent leaving: disappointed that he is leaving, but he is used to good players leaving. Waiting for next god payer to step up.
  • Slot not commenting about where he is going or early contract payment for Trent.
  • Bradley likely to start against Arsenal.
  • Disappointed about losing against Chelsea and wants to win against Arsenal.
  • Arne watched PSG vs Arsenal. Not every chance was a goal (compared to Barca vs Inter). All 4 teams had quality.
  • Slot’s impression of Bradley: Don’t compare him with Trent as a different type of player. Unfortunate with fitness, needs to improve that but has shown quality.
  • Rotation: Possible but not looking to lose games. Bradley needs playing time.
  • Arsenal still looking to finish 2nd, so not a dead rubber.
  • Trent how has he handled fallout: More negative response than he is used to. Slot is not going to tell fans how to respond. Club should not be distracted.
  • Right back future: Slot has played 4 players there. Gomez is good there. Slot does not talk about potential signings (steaming on presser drops by half!)
  • Question about Klopp? It shouldn’t affect squad? Life moves on.
  • Quansah: Slot thinks he played well against Chelsea. Needs to learn from incident that led to penalty. Consistency is difficult for young players but he has developed through season.
  • Wenger saying players leaving on a Bosman: happens more than in the past but it is mainly RM.

So yeah, I sat through 30 minutes to discover that Bradley is starting on Sunday.

I watch/listen every press conference, manager and players. Pre and post match.

Answers on, I don’t know, half the questions or confusions we have here are available to learn either spoken directly or “between the lines” from the main actors.

Watching games with understanding and concentration, with my phone away and internet off, listening to what they say takes care of half of trying to understand best what’s happening.

Never like to rely on quotes, stuff gets lost.

Arne Slot on Bradley:

“Conor will start on Sunday because he needs more games under his belt to prepare for next season."

Yea Arteta sounding more and more desperate to creat a success narrative for Arsenal, best team in the CL and ‘would have won the last two seasons’. Not very gracious to say the least. Never mind that the only reason so few points were needed to win this year is because Arsenal have failed to mount a serious challenge.

He actually said that?
Rising Trent to god status.:wink:

Not sure if the Norse god @Magnus approves of this beatification.

Two goals AND two assists for that 30/20 please.

The quote says “god payer”. It obviously means he’s done some kind of dodgy deal with Fowler.

Yes I noticed that after posting, I automatically read ‘god player’ :joy:
I have been wondering what I could say about a ‘god player’ but haven’t come up with anything funny yet.

After this weekend Arteta will have given more guards of honour to Liverpool than won trophies as Arsenal manager
