It’s easy to lose perspective when so many of our big players are out but that 11 is still at least as good as anything Leicester can put out.
I’m a lot more optimistic than most for this, I think we’ll win 2-1 or 3-1. Reds back on top.

Ignoring the football for a second…
Isn’t it remarkably bizarre footballers always use single use plastic vessels to drink from
Can’t they afford RE useable drink bottles?
To be fair, Robbo has a Tropicana (orange)
Probably Vodka Orange in it and drunk since Scotland qualified for the EUROs.
Who’s that small person talking to Robertson? I’m sure I’ve seen him before, just can’t remember where.
Very excited for the possibility of Thiago playing. I’ve heard he’s quite good.
I’m pretty sure that the “not regular starters” aren’t bricking it. It’s the sort of opportunity that they will have been praying for (not wanting misfortune on their team-mates of course).
This fixture last year was really tough. We managed to win it right at the end but it was a hard grind. The return fixture in Leicester was probably the best we had played all season but that was the one where we had just come back from the club world cup, the players had little time to rest and recover and we were playing the most in-form team at their own stadium.
We will start on Sunday with 11 players who fully intend to emerge with all three points.
I think the 4231 could be effective against Leicester. Two central midfielders to cover our defence which will play a bit deeper as usual (hopefully Gini will be available. I’d pair him with Millie who is fresh after his break), and Bobby as the upfield presser ahead of them. Let Mané play on the left as usual, Shaq on the right and Diogo upfront. This could make us a very dangerous side going forward.
That being settled, * knows who will play in defence… cross fingers that Matip will be available, and as Rhys Williams injured himself too, it will have to be Nat Phillips alongside him. That is a slow central defence, so they’ll have to play much deeper as we usually tend to do.
Subs: Adrian, VDB, Tsimikas, Fabinho (fingers crossed), Jones, Keita, Minamino
However, knowing Klopp, we’ll most probably play 433 with Keita and Jones in the line-up, with a high defensive line leaving us open for their quick counters… and win 4-1 nevertheless!
Not a fan of Millie in a double pivot. He could possibly play Neco to have Mille for midfield, but I expect Mille in the back 4.
You also have to think of the right side against Leicester’s left. Phillips, Neco and Shaq… not sure if that’s enough, even if they would get help from Gini.
In some situations, changing to 4-2-3-1 has been good for us and will continue to be. But with our midfield options for this one, I think we’re sticking to 4-3-3. Especially without Salah.
The only plus in a “normal” back 4 for this game is that Millie, Phillips and Matip were all present at training during the break.
But still so many questions, we’ll hear more from Klopp in half an hour.
You’re absolutely right. I was thinking about all these flaws while writing my post. And yeah, agree that Millie at right back could be the better option. In that case, Klopp will have to trust Jones and Keita in a 433.
Yeah, but for this game, it’s really not black and white. I understand different arguments.
Whatever we go for, we have objective reasons to be a bit worried how it will look like. I have no doubts we have the ability to remain good and win the game. But caution.
Phillips at RCB against Vardy, Phillips as a weaker right footer potentially at LCB, Matip potentially at LCB for the first time since he’s been at the club.
Not having our first choice RB and RW/ST. Also probably not having Hendo which means Gini will have to act as our #6, in whichever midfield structure (hopefully more towards the right).
We’ll see what Leicester do at LWB. Is it Justin, Thomas or something else. Probably one of them two, probably Justin for the bigger games, Thomas against more defensive opponents. Castagne and Pereira are back this week, this one might be too soon for them. So Albrighton could continue at RWB.
That’s where offensively, we should create damage, those spaces between their CB’s (Fofana is also a doubt) and WB’s.
Latest Leicester team news:
“Ricardo’s in training with the group, which is great news, and he’ll most probably play in a reserve game next week,” Rodgers revealed. "He’s progressing really well.
"Wilf is out on the field. He still has a number of weeks to go, but he’s progressing well. Söyüncü, likewise, is maybe a few weeks away, but training with the squad.
“Timothy Castagne’s back in again, which is great news, and Wesley Fofana will be fine, so we’re slowly starting to get our players back.”
Posted this in the wrong thread, sorry!
So Leicester will probably go with Castagne at RWB and Justin at LWB. Albrighton and Thomas likely on the bench.
Pity there’s no Salah to go up against Fuchs (if it is him, they don’t have a lot of other options apart from Morgan) at LCB in their back 3. Although that might be another reason to flip Mane to the right in this one.
Hopefully Ali keeps it in one piece.
Stephen Done, I remember that guy from different interviews on the club’s past. Great listening to him. I’d love to spend a whole night listening to him and George Sephton talking about the club.
This is one of those clubs that make me see red. Spoiled, whiny, entitled crew of crybabies. And they’re currently the media darlings, the toast of the town, which is making Brendan extra insufferable. Barf.
I’m sorry I’m not as cultured as most but there are still a few clubs that bring out the raw emotion in me and this current Leicester lot is one of them. I will accept a loss to Atalanta and Brighton for a victory against these spoiled babies.
