Pre Match | Liverpool vs. Arsenal | EFL Cup 4th Round | Thursday October 1st 19:45h | Anfield

Wouldn’t call that a sitter as such, comes at him quickly on the side foot volley, not easy but he probably should score.

Yeah, was maybe even harder to miss than blast it over, but imo we can’t expect a late signing from last year to suddenly outdo or even contest Salah and Mane.

But indeed, we are closing in on the time where Minamino should start contributing maybe a bit more than he does at current. The longer he is here, the more he must be judged.
But I do think he is a very positive player, so I have faith in him being a success.

Jones certainly takes his chances when he sniffs it but not overly impressed with his press. Could do more to help the team…

Pretty shit match this far - some decent spells here and there - but overall eratic , disjointed and ineffective.

I demand to be entertained ! :face_with_monocle:

HT 0-0:

Not good enough, bar a few spells during the half, and some pressure right at the end.

Hopefully Klopp can reorganise our lads a bit, and hopefully the legs of the Londoners will be gone soon. It looked a bit like that towards the end of the half. That should open up more space for our players.

But some players really need to wake up. Salah for instance seems totally absent from the game.

Is it just me or is Salah playing deeper in a more Firminho type role?

I am so-so happy with the game. I think we are in control and we are clearly the more positive side. Dislike how we are so static in front though. I saw way too many passes trying to get through their centre defence. Maybe use the flanks more and run more, so we can stretch them.

All in all, we are the better team, but we have only played okay and Arsenal is still in this game and very much so.

Usually on those rare occasions when we’re clearly outplayed like today we concede. Thanks to Adrian and the tireless back four we’re just about hanging in there.

I’m with @Hope.in.your.heart re the “crowd noise”, bin this nonsense ASAP.

We grew into the game. So did Jones IMO. Didn’t he start from right and then moved to left? Rhys was good IMO. Jota is brilliant in his anticipation and reading of the game. Salah less involved than others. And shout out to Adrian, been superb as well.

Merson looks rough.

Looks like a bit of a scrappy, disjointed half.

Ceballos was a cunt in the last match. Continues his trend

After having seen a studio review twice, I am happy that we were not given a penalty. I thought it was stonewall, but the offense started clearly before the 16 meter, so ref did at least right in that particular case.

With the players we have out there thought we may have gone 4 2 3 1
With Grulic and Jones as the 2 holding mids, Mini as the 10, Salah through the middle and Jota and Wilson out wide.

What we have at the moment seems to be lacking the offensive movement

I think Arsenal will be very happy with the way they were outpressing the Klopp pressing machine. Impressive (or impressing perhaps)

Played well i thought but the arse are parking the fucking bus.

Yes mate spot on. Was more difficult to hit the cross bar than Score… Yet to see him play like he did in Champions League for RB Salzburg along with Haaland and others. Too early to judge him. Think he would come good. Thiago in mid would suit him well. He kind of likes to play one touch and our current midfield isn’t that suited for it except may be Keita and Ox when he is back.

It may have a lot to do with Klopp, for some reason, stationing Salah that deep (probably for stability against counters or I don’t know tbh, but it has probably to do with taking less risk). If you’ve noticed, he is sat really, really deep, so hardly involved around the goal at times.

The problem I have with that is the simple fact that the obstruction started outside, but did not actually stop the LFC player - it was a deliberate swing of the leg that tripped him that did. The defender is essentially being rewarded for starting the foul early there, which is precisely why FIFA referee guidance says to ignore it until the point you can no longer call advantage, and then determine the placement of the foul on where that occurs.

Otherwise, if you are beaten outside the box, just grab lightly, and you will never concede a penalty.
